For the first time ever, Porsche has introduced a 911 GT3 variant with a fully automatic convertible roof, redefining what an open-top performance car can deliver. The new 911 GT3 S/C blends the lightweight philosophy of the 911 S/T with the exhilarating naturally aspirated engine of the GT3, creating a driver-focused machine that prioritises raw engagement above all else.

At the heart of the 911 GT3 S/C lies a high-revving 4.0-litre flat-six engine producing 510 PS and 450 Nm of torque. Paired exclusively with a short-ratio six-speed manual transmission, this setup reinforces its purist credentials. Capable of sprinting from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.9 seconds and reaching a top speed of 313 km/h, the car delivers both performance and emotional appeal—especially when driven with the roof down.

Unlike most convertibles, the GT3 S/C remains a strict two-seater, echoing the spirit of the Porsche 911 Speedster (2019). However, it stands apart by being a regular production model rather than a limited run, making its unique character more accessible to enthusiasts.

True to Porsche GT philosophy, weight reduction plays a crucial role. The GT3 S/C tips the scales at just 1,497 kg—remarkably light for a convertible—thanks to extensive use of advanced materials. Carbon fibre is used for the bonnet, doors, and wings, while magnesium components are incorporated into the wheels and roof structure. Even the battery is optimised, with a lightweight lithium-ion unit shaving additional kilograms.

The standard Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB) further enhance performance while reducing weight by over 20 kg compared to conventional systems. Combined with lightweight magnesium wheels, the car achieves improved agility and responsiveness.

The fully automatic soft top is a standout innovation. Engineered with magnesium ribs, it maintains a sleek, coupé-like silhouette when closed. The roof can be opened or closed in approximately 12 seconds, even while driving at speeds up to 50 km/h. An integrated wind deflector ensures comfort during open-air driving, even at higher speeds.

Despite the addition of a powered roof, Porsche has managed to keep weight gains minimal, preserving the sharp dynamics expected of a GT3 model.

Inside, the GT3 S/C continues its lightweight and performance-oriented theme. The cabin features carbon-fibre accents, minimalist door panels, and lightweight carpets. Standard Sports Seats Plus offer support and adjustability, while optional carbon-fibre bucket seats enhance the track-focused experience.

A digital instrument cluster includes a dedicated “Track Screen” mode that strips away unnecessary information, leaving only essential performance data. The engine rev limit of 9,000 rpm takes centre stage, emphasising the car’s high-revving nature.

Visually, the GT3 S/C stands out with its black windscreen frame, streamlined LED matrix headlights, and aerodynamic enhancements such as a rear spoiler with a Gurney flap. The design is both purposeful and elegant, reflecting its dual nature as a road-focused yet track-capable machine.

For those seeking further personalisation, Porsche offers the optional Street Style Package. This adds bold visual elements, unique colour accents, and a richly detailed interior with multi-tone leather and bespoke finishes, allowing owners to tailor the car to their individual taste.

According to Porsche’s GT division, the 911 GT3 S/C represents a new level of driving enjoyment. By combining a naturally aspirated engine, advanced chassis technology, and open-top freedom, it delivers an experience rarely found in modern sports cars.

With its uncompromising focus on driver engagement, lightweight construction, and emotional performance, the 911 GT3 S/C stands as a bold evolution of the iconic 911—proving that even in an era of electrification, the thrill of pure driving remains alive and well.
