Volvo Car Malaysia is strengthening its after-sales presence in East Malaysia with the opening of a new 2S (Service and Spare Parts) centre in Kuching, Sarawak, giving local Volvo owners a dedicated facility for servicing and parts support. Located along Jalan Pending and operated by Sebangga Group, the new Volvo Car Kuching facility takes over a familiar automotive site, allowing existing customers to continue receiving access to Volvo’s after-sales services with minimal disruption.
For now, the facility is focused entirely on servicing and spare parts. However, this is only the beginning of Sebangga Mitsinbo’s plans for Kuching, with preparations already underway to transform the site into a full-fledged Volvo dealership. Until that upgrade is completed, customers in Sarawak looking to purchase a new Volvo can place their orders through Sebangga Mitsinbo’s established branch in Kota Kinabalu.
Volvo Car Malaysia and Thailand Managing Director Chris Wailes said the expansion reflects the importance the company places on maintaining a strong relationship with its customers and ensuring that support remains accessible across the country. “Our relationship with customers is very important to us. We are deeply committed to maintaining a robust, accessible network of service centres – and soon, complete dealerships across Malaysia,” said Wailes.
He added that the arrival of Sebangga Mitsinbo in Kuching would provide Volvo owners in Sarawak with continued access to the level of after-sales support expected from the brand, while strengthening Volvo’s wider national network. The move also marks Sebangga Group’s expansion into Sarawak. Chairman Dato’ Arif Ambrose Ng said the group is looking forward to supporting the local Volvo community, while working towards establishing a complete sales and service destination in Kuching.
The opening comes at an interesting time for Volvo in Malaysia, following the recent introduction of two new models – the evolved EX90 and the EX30 Cross Country. Of the two, the EX30 Cross Country could prove particularly relevant to Sarawak customers. Combining a compact footprint with an electric all-wheel-drive system and increased ride height, the model is designed to bring a more adventurous character to Volvo’s smallest SUV.
Despite its more rugged positioning, the EX30 Cross Country retains the brand’s emphasis on safety and Scandinavian design, giving it a distinctive mix of urban usability and go-anywhere appeal. With the new 2S centre now operational, Volvo Car Malaysia is adding another important piece to its East Malaysian network, while Sebangga Mitsinbo works towards the next stage – turning the Kuching facility into a full dealership serving both sales and after-sales needs.
For Volvo owners in Sarawak, that means easier access to authorised service and parts support today, with a broader Volvo experience potentially coming to Kuching in the future.
