Kia Sales Malaysia (KSM) is putting greater emphasis on the ownership experience as it strengthens its aftersales operations, with a newly established centralised parts warehouse in Shah Alam forming the backbone of its nationwide support network. The move is part of KSM’s broader Return, Rebuild and Reposition strategy in Malaysia, which also includes an average 15% reduction in the prices of almost all Kia Genuine Parts and greater flexibility for customers signing up for the Kia Maintenance Plan (KMP).
According to Kia Sales Malaysia President and CEO Hyung Ho Kim, building a dependable aftersales foundation has been a priority since the company began its operations. The new central parts warehouse, located at One Logistics Hub in Shah Alam, covers approximately 20,000 sq. ft. and is supported by nine dedicated Kia personnel. Working together with logistics partner PKT Logistics Group, the facility acts as the central point for inventory management and parts distribution to Kia dealerships nationwide.
KSM says recent shipments have brought parts availability to near-complete levels across its current model range, covering service, electrical, mechanical and structural components. The inventory also extends to older Kia models that remain on Malaysian roads. This includes models such as the Forte, Cerato, Picanto, Stinger, Seltos, Optima, EV6 and EV9, as well as various generations of the Carnival, Sportage and Sorento.
Beyond simply increasing inventory, KSM has also upgraded its ordering and inventory management processes. The system is designed to streamline the entire parts journey, from dealer ordering and quality control to dispatch and stock replenishment. Following Kia’s global parts management standards, the warehouse is targeting same-day delivery for orders within the Klang Valley, while reducing fulfilment times for dealerships in other parts of Malaysia.
KSM says the strengthened processes and multiple quality checks have also resulted in a 100% parts delivery accuracy rate since operations began. The company has extended these efforts to its dealer network, with dealer personnel receiving training on inventory management and standardised workflows. An integrated system also allows KSM to monitor stock levels at dealerships and assist with replenishment according to actual demand. The objective is to create a more connected supply chain, linking the central warehouse with individual dealerships and, ultimately, Kia owners.
The aftersales push does not stop at improving parts availability. Earlier in 2026, KSM introduced an average 15% price reduction across nearly all Kia Genuine Parts. The move is intended to make genuine replacement parts more accessible through authorised Kia outlets while helping customers manage maintenance costs.
KSM has also made the Kia Maintenance Plan more flexible. The prepaid five-year scheduled servicing package allows customers to lock in maintenance costs at current prices. It covers scheduled items including full synthetic engine oil, oil and cabin and engine air filters, brake fluid and spark plugs, alongside multi-point inspections, labour and standard scheduled service costs.
Customers can now purchase the KMP within 11 months of their vehicle’s registration date, provided the vehicle has not yet reached its first lubricant change milestone. Pricing starts at RM2,980 for the Sportage 1.6T, RM3,580 for the Carnival 2.2D and RM3,680 for the Sportage 2.0. For KSM Managing Director Emily Lek, the combination of stronger parts infrastructure, lower genuine parts prices and a more flexible maintenance programme is intended to make Kia ownership easier to plan over the longer term.
KSM is also continuing to expand its physical presence, with Kia Kota Bharu set to become the brand’s latest customer touchpoint. Operated by Baihaki Automotive Sdn Bhd, the facility at Lot 5143, Jalan 1A/44, Kawasan Perindustrian II, Pengkalan Chepa, Kota Bharu, will begin full operations on 15 October 2026 as a 2S centre providing service and spare parts.
Showroom and sales operations will follow soon after. The new facility gives Kia customers in Kelantan more convenient access to genuine parts and authorised aftersales support, while extending KSM’s reach further into Malaysia’s East Coast.
Kia’s push in Malaysia comes as the brand continues to record strong momentum internationally. For the first half of 2026, Kia sold 1,630,988 vehicles worldwide, its highest-ever first-half sales result since the company entered the automotive industry in 1962. The figure surpassed the previous first-half record of 1,587,536 units achieved in 2025.
The momentum continued into the second quarter, with Kia recording its highest-ever quarterly sales of 851,639 units, representing a 4.5% increase year-on-year. Electrified vehicles have also become an increasingly important part of the company’s global performance. Kia’s retail sales of electrified models jumped 60% year-on-year to 296,000 units in the first half of 2026, giving the company a record 4% global market share for electrified vehicles.
