Tesla has strengthened its charging infrastructure in northern Malaysia with the opening of a new V4 Supercharging station at Queensbay Mall in Penang, adding greater convenience for Tesla owners and long-distance travellers.

The new facility features four V4 Superchargers, giving drivers access to high-speed charging while they shop, dine or run errands at the mall. The location also provides a convenient stop for motorists travelling through Penang and along Malaysia’s key intercity routes.

Tesla’s V4 Superchargers can deliver charging rates of up to 250 kW. For the Model 3 and Model Y, this can translate into up to approximately 311 km of additional range in as little as 15 minutes, depending on factors such as battery state of charge and vehicle conditions.

The latest-generation chargers are also designed with future compatibility in mind and support seamless Plug & Charge functionality through the Tesla App, further simplifying the charging experience.

With the addition of the Queensbay Mall station, Tesla now operates 20 Supercharging stations comprising 88 Superchargers across Malaysia. The company also has 18 Destination Charging locations with a total of 76 chargers.

Tesla says its expanding charging network is helping to facilitate cross-country travel, including journeys between Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand. The network provides access to high-speed charging along important regional routes used by motorists travelling for tourism, business and longer road trips.

The company also offers cross-border warranty coverage, service access and connectivity, providing Tesla owners with additional confidence when travelling between countries.

Beyond its charging infrastructure, Tesla Malaysia continues to offer the Model 3 and Model Y to local customers. Under its limited-time Merdeka Special, buyers can choose between a complimentary Wall Connector or 3,000 km of Supercharging credits, although the two offers cannot be combined.

The Model 3 is currently priced from RM149,000, while the Model Y starts from RM198,000.

For customers opting for the Model Y Premium RWD, Tesla is also offering a choice between a RM13,000 trade-in rebate or a Low Interest Program with fixed rates starting from 0.88%. These incentives are likewise not combinable.

Tesla is also expanding its referral programme to include the Model Y under the Tesla Refer and Earn programme. Existing Tesla owners can share their personal referral links with friends and family, earning Tesla credits when a referral results in a qualifying purchase.

For the first 10 referred customers who order a new Model 3 or Model Y using a referral link, Tesla is offering RM1,000 off the vehicle. Meanwhile, Tesla owners will receive RM500 in Tesla credits for each successful referral, with rewards redeemable for benefits including Supercharging credits and software upgrades.

The opening of the Queensbay Mall V4 Supercharging station marks another step in Tesla’s efforts to build a more comprehensive charging ecosystem in Malaysia. As the country’s EV market continues to expand, the growing availability of high-speed charging locations is becoming increasingly important in supporting both everyday use and longer-distance electric vehicle travel.
