2026 BYD SEALION 7 Arrives in Malaysia with New Dynamic Variant, Longer Range and Faster Charging

BYD Sime Motors has expanded its all-electric SUV line-up in Malaysia with the introduction of the 2026 BYD SEALION 7, headlined by the debut of a new Dynamic variant and significant upgrades to the existing Premium and Performance models. The refreshed range focuses on making the flagship D-segment electric SUV more accessible while improving everyday usability through longer driving range, quicker charging and enhanced ownership benefits.

The latest updates build on the success of the BYD SEALION 7, which has established itself as Malaysia’s best-selling D-segment electric SUV in 2025, with more than 6,300 units delivered since its local launch in 2024.

The biggest addition to the range is the new rear-wheel-drive Dynamic variant, designed to lower the entry point into the SEALION 7 family without compromising on the model’s key strengths. Meanwhile, the Premium and Performance variants benefit from larger battery packs and substantially faster DC charging capabilities, making long-distance travel even more practical.

Reflecting these improvements, BYD has updated the model’s tagline from “Pinnacle of Performance, Redefined for Tomorrow” to “Pinnacle of Performance, Redefined Further for Tomorrow”, highlighting advancements in driving range, charging convenience, accessibility and overall customer confidence.

According to BYD Malaysia Managing Director Jacob Ma, the updated range gives buyers greater flexibility to choose a variant that suits their lifestyle while offering stronger value and supporting Malaysia’s growing transition towards electric mobility.

Beyond the vehicle itself, BYD Sime Motors continues to strengthen its customer support network across the country. The company now operates 44 sales and marketing outlets, 28 aftersales centres and 12 body and paint facilities nationwide. It has also introduced the first BYD Certified Pre-Owned showroom in the Asia-Pacific region, reinforcing its commitment to providing long-term ownership confidence.

Managing Director Adeline Lew said the company’s focus extends beyond vehicle sales, placing equal importance on delivering a seamless ownership journey through comprehensive aftersales support and customer care.

The 2026 BYD SEALION 7 range caters to different driving preferences while retaining BYD’s Blade Battery technology, advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), intelligent connectivity and the brand’s e-Platform 3.0 architecture across all variants.

The new Dynamic variant is powered by a rear-mounted electric motor producing 170 kW and 380 Nm, allowing it to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 7.3 seconds. It offers a 520 km (NEDC) driving range, making it a practical option for both daily commuting and weekend journeys.

Stepping up to the Premium variant brings one of the most significant upgrades. Battery capacity has increased from 82.56 kWh to 91.39 kWh, extending the claimed range from 567 km to 650 km (NEDC). DC fast-charging capability has also been improved dramatically, increasing from 150 kW to 230 kW for shorter charging stops.

For buyers seeking maximum performance, the Performance variant continues with an all-wheel-drive setup producing 390 kW and 690 Nm, enabling a 0-100 km/h sprint in just 4.5 seconds. It now also benefits from the larger 91.39 kWh Blade Battery and 230 kW DC fast charging, while retaining its distinctive red brake calipers and 20-inch alloy wheels. Driving range stands at 600 km (NEDC).

The Premium variant also receives an exclusive new Ultraviolet exterior finish, joining Aurora White, Atlantis Grey, Shark Grey and Cosmos Black. Every variant comes with a black interior as standard, maintaining a clean and premium cabin appearance.

Dynamic – RM163,800
Premium – RM188,800
Performance – RM203,800

To mark the launch, the first 300 customers who book the Dynamic variant can enjoy a RM4,000 savings, reducing the price to RM159,800. Alternatively, buyers may choose a complimentary wallbox.

Premium buyers receive a complimentary wallbox together with a RM3,888 overtrade bonus, while Performance customers enjoy a complimentary wallbox plus a RM2,888 overtrade bonus.

Customers can experience the new SEALION 7 at the BEYOND YOUR DRIVE Roadshow, taking place at GF Luxe (near Parkson), 1 Utama Shopping Centre, from 30 July to 2 August 2026.
