GWM Malaysia has recorded its strongest first-half performance since entering the local market, achieving record sales while laying out an ambitious roadmap for the remainder of 2026. Backed by rising demand for hybrid vehicles, an expanding product line-up and a stronger focus on customer convenience, the brand is positioning itself for continued growth in an increasingly competitive automotive landscape.

During the first six months of 2026, GWM Malaysia delivered 3,166 vehicles, representing a 42.4 percent increase compared to the same period last year. The impressive performance also saw the company secure a place among Malaysia’s Top 11 best-selling automotive brands, highlighting the growing acceptance of its range of SUVs, electric vehicles and electrified models.

Sales momentum gathered pace as the year progressed, with deliveries climbing from 1,294 units in the first quarter to 1,872 units in the second quarter, marking a 44.7 percent quarter-on-quarter increase.

Leading the charge was the HAVAL H6 HEV, which remained GWM Malaysia’s highest-volume model after increasing sales from 656 units in Q1 to 895 units in Q2. The WEY G9 Hi4 PHEV also continued to perform strongly, growing from 421 units to 707 units over the same period while maintaining its position as Malaysia’s best-selling luxury MPV among officially distributed OEM brands. Meanwhile, the ORA GOOD CAT EV nearly doubled its quarterly sales, recording an impressive 93 percent increase.

According to Stan Li Hao, Managing Director of Commercial Operations at GWM Malaysia, the record-breaking first-half results demonstrate the confidence Malaysian consumers have placed in the brand’s products, technology and long-term commitment to the local market. He added that the company will continue expanding its product portfolio while strengthening its presence nationwide to deliver greater value to customers.

Building on its record performance, GWM Malaysia expects positive momentum to continue throughout the remainder of 2026, driven by increasing consumer acceptance of hybrid technologies and favourable market conditions.

Following encouraging public interest during the Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show (KLIMS) 2026, the company is preparing to introduce two key models to the Malaysian market: the ORA 5 HEV and the HAVAL H7 Hi4 PHEV. At the same time, the recently launched TANK 300 HEV is expected to further strengthen GWM’s hybrid portfolio as more Malaysians embrace electrified mobility.

The company also welcomed the Government’s decision to postpone the implementation of PUA 402, describing the move as one that provides consumers with greater pricing certainty while helping sustain confidence across the automotive industry. GWM Malaysia also believes that upcoming improvements to the Hire Purchase Act will make vehicle financing more transparent and accessible, benefiting both consumers and the wider automotive ecosystem.

Beyond introducing new vehicles, GWM Malaysia is also investing in improving the overall customer journey through strategic collaborations.

The company has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Touch ‘n Go Sdn Bhd to integrate smarter digital mobility solutions into its vehicles. The partnership aims to provide customers with a seamless and cashless toll payment experience while supporting Malaysia’s future Multi-Lane Fast Flow (MLFF) implementation.

Beginning 1 August 2026, every newly booked and registered GWM vehicle will be supplied with a pre-installed or bundled Touch ‘n Go x GWM branded RFID tag as standard, allowing customers to enjoy immediate access to electronic toll payments from the moment they begin driving their new vehicle. The programme applies to eligible registrations in Peninsular Malaysia.

GWM Malaysia Chief Operating Officer Roslan Abdullah said the initiative reflects the company’s commitment to enhancing the customer experience beyond the vehicle itself by combining automotive innovation with connected mobility solutions. Touch ‘n Go CEO Praba Sangarajoo added that the collaboration will simplify everyday travel while making digital mobility solutions more accessible to Malaysian motorists.

In conjunction with the Merdeka and Hari Malaysia celebrations, GWM Malaysia will launch a nationwide promotional campaign running from 1 August until 30 September 2026.

Customers who book and register a new GWM vehicle within the campaign period will stand a chance to be among six winners receiving up to RM1,000 worth of toll cashback.

Selected GWM models will also be available with savings of up to RM30,000 throughout August, while every new vehicle purchase continues to include five years of complimentary scheduled service maintenance, providing additional peace of mind for customers.

Ahead of its official Malaysian launch, the ORA 5 HEV will embark on a nationwide preview programme at selected GWM dealerships, allowing prospective buyers to experience the model up close.

The company will also continue engaging customers through roadshows across the country, including appearances at Vivacity Megamall in Kuching from 30 July to 2 August and the CarSifu Autoshow at Mid Valley Megamall from 12 to 16 August.
