GWM Malaysia has expanded its luxury MPV lineup with the introduction of the new GWM WEY G9 Hi4 HEV, giving Malaysian buyers another electrified option that combines premium comfort, powerful performance and the convenience of a self-charging hybrid powertrain. The latest addition builds on the success of the GWM WEY G9 Hi4 PHEV, which has recorded 2,000 deliveries nationwide.

With the arrival of the HEV variant, customers can now choose between plug-in hybrid technology for electric-assisted commuting and a conventional hybrid system that does not require external charging. Despite their different powertrains, both versions share the same philosophy: delivering a First Class travel experience for drivers and passengers alike.

At the heart of the GWM WEY G9 Hi4 HEV is a 2.0-litre turbocharged hybrid engine paired with GWM’s Hi4 intelligent electronically controlled all-wheel-drive system. The combination produces a substantial 358 PS (263 kW) and 782 Nm of torque, promising responsive acceleration and confident performance across city streets and highways. The hybrid system automatically manages power delivery between the engine and electric drive system according to driving conditions, balancing performance with fuel efficiency.

GWM Malaysia claims fuel consumption of 6.5 litres per 100 km under the NEDC testing cycle, while the MPV offers a combined driving range of up to 845 km. Since the vehicle does not require external charging, owners can enjoy the benefits of hybrid technology while retaining familiar refuelling habits. For buyers who appreciate electrified mobility but prefer not to plan their journeys around charging stops, the HEV provides an alternative to the existing plug-in hybrid model.

Luxury is a major part of the WEY G9 experience, and the HEV carries over a generous list of comfort features designed to make every journey more enjoyable. Its seven-seat cabin follows a 2+2+3 layout, with premium Nappa leather upholstery for the first and second rows. The front and second-row seats are ventilated, while the driver and second-row passengers benefit from 10-point massage functions.

The second row is particularly well-equipped, featuring Zero Gravity captain seats with electric leg rests and six-way adjustment. Whether transporting business associates or taking the family on a long-distance holiday, these seats are designed to make spending time on the road considerably more relaxing. Practicality has not been forgotten, either. A flexible seating system, tip-up third-row seats and a wide middle aisle make it easier to accommodate different combinations of passengers and luggage. Boot capacity ranges from 233 litres to 1,725 litres, depending on the seating configuration.

To keep the cabin peaceful, HALOSonic active noise cancellation works alongside an acoustic windscreen and acoustic glass for the first- and second-row doors. Three-zone automatic climate control, a CN95 cabin filter and air-quality monitoring with plasma purification further enhance the onboard environment.

The WEY G9 Hi4 HEV combines its luxurious cabin with a comprehensive collection of infotainment and convenience features. The dashboard houses a 14.6-inch infotainment display, a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel and a head-up display, giving the driver access to essential information without relying solely on the central screen.

Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included, alongside a 50-watt wireless charging pad and six-zone voice recognition. A 21-speaker premium audio system also promises an immersive listening experience for occupants. Everyday usability receives attention through dual power sliding doors, a sensor-operated power tailgate, full-vehicle keyless entry, active access and walk-away locking. Selected vehicle functions can also be managed remotely through the GWM mobile application. Parking and manoeuvring in tighter spaces are supported by a digital rear-view mirror, automatic front defogging, a 360-degree surround-view camera with transparent chassis view and fully automated parking.

Beyond its comfort and convenience equipment, the GWM WEY G9 Hi4 HEV comes with six SRS airbags, including side curtain airbags measuring 3,107 mm in length. Its intelligent driver-assistance suite includes Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control with Intelligent Cornering, Traffic Jam Assist, Lane Centre Keeping, Lane Change Assistance and Blind Spot Detection. Additional functions include Rear Cross Traffic Alert and Braking, Door Open Warning and Secondary Collision Mitigation. Together, these systems are designed to provide additional assistance in congested urban traffic, on highways and during longer journeys.

Buyers can personalise their WEY G9 Hi4 HEV with three exterior colour options: Aurora White, Wisdom Grey and Nebula Black. Inside, the available theme features a black interior paired with a grey roof, giving the cabin a contemporary appearance. According to GWM Malaysia Chief Operating Officer Roslan Abdullah, the new variant reflects the brand’s approach to luxury, which extends beyond premium materials and equipment to how a vehicle supports people’s everyday lives.

The GWM WEY G9 Hi4 HEV is now available in Malaysia at a retail price of RM249,800. GWM Malaysia is also offering an introductory package that includes several financing and ownership benefits:
