Motul Malaysia is giving three of its popular passenger car motor oil ranges a technology boost, with the H-Tech 100 Plus, Multipower Plus and Multigrade Plus now upgraded to meet the latest API SQ specification. The upgrade is accompanied by refreshed packaging across all three ranges, making it easier for motorists and workshops to identify the right lubricant for their vehicles.
According to Motul Malaysia, the move is part of its wider effort to continuously develop its passenger car motor oil portfolio and bring newer lubricant technologies to a broader range of motorists, rather than limiting them to its premium products.
“At Motul, innovation is not limited to our flagship products. It is equally about continuously improving the products that motorists rely on every day,” said Ravi Shankar, Country General Manager of Specialty Lubricants Trading (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd. “By upgrading H-Tech 100 Plus, Multipower Plus and Multigrade Plus to the latest API SQ specification, we are extending our latest lubricant technology to a wider range of customers.”
The upgraded formulations have been developed to address the increasingly demanding requirements of modern gasoline engines. Compared with the previous API SP specification, API SQ introduces tougher requirements covering areas such as engine wear protection, fuel economy retention, engine cleanliness, timing chain wear, oxidation control and protection against Low-Speed Pre-Ignition (LSPI).
For the lower-viscosity oils in the range, the upgraded formulations also comply with the latest ILSAC GF-7A/B industry standards. These requirements are designed to support the needs of newer engines while helping maintain fuel efficiency, reliability and overall engine performance over the long term. The three upgraded ranges continue to serve different requirements within Motul’s passenger car portfolio.
Motul H-Tech 100 Plus is positioned as a 100% synthetic all-rounder, while Motul Multipower Plus focuses on dependable performance across different driving conditions. Motul Multigrade Plus, meanwhile, is aimed at motorists looking for everyday value without compromising on protection.
The product upgrade also comes with a visual makeover. Motul has introduced cleaner and more standardised packaging across the H-Tech 100 Plus, Multipower Plus and Multigrade Plus ranges. The revised labels provide clearer information on viscosity grades, API SQ and ILSAC GF-7A/B certifications, product benefits and applications.
An Oil Selector QR Code has also been incorporated into the packaging, giving consumers another way to identify the appropriate lubricant for their vehicle. With the combination of updated formulations and clearer product identification, Motul aims to make its latest lubricant technology more accessible to everyday motorists and workshops.
While the API SQ upgrade represents the latest step for Motul’s current passenger car range, the company says its research and development efforts are already looking towards the next generation of mobility. Motul’s global R&D teams are working on lubricant technologies designed for evolving vehicle architectures, including hybrid powertrains and electrified vehicles, while also addressing the industry’s increasing focus on sustainability and lower-emission mobility.
