Porsche Malaysia has officially introduced the all-new Cayenne Electric, bringing the brand’s latest all-electric SUV to the Malaysian market as the newest member of the Cayenne family. Unveiled at the PETRONAS Sepang International Circuit during the Porsche ARbox Carrera Cup Asia race weekend, the Cayenne Electric combines high-performance driving with everyday practicality and long-distance comfort.
The new electric SUV is now open for bookings in Malaysia, with prices starting from RM699,000. It joins the existing combustion-engined and plug-in hybrid Cayenne variants, both of which are locally assembled, giving Malaysian customers three distinct powertrain choices within the same model family.
Porsche has positioned the Cayenne Electric as far more than simply an electric alternative to its conventionally powered siblings. At the top of the range, the Cayenne Turbo Electric delivers performance figures that would not look out of place on a supercar. With Launch Control activated, the Turbo Electric produces up to 850 kW (1,156 PS) and 1,500 Nm of torque. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.5 seconds, reach 200 km/h in 7.4 seconds and continue on to a top speed of 260 km/h.
The Cayenne Electric range also benefits from technology developed through Porsche’s motorsport programmes. Energy recuperation can reach up to 600 kW, while the Turbo Electric uses direct oil cooling for its rear electric motor to support sustained performance and efficiency.
Despite the enormous performance potential, Porsche says around 97 per cent of braking operations in everyday driving can be handled solely by the electric motors, with conventional friction brakes rarely required.
All models come with all-wheel drive and Porsche Traction Management, while adaptive air suspension with Porsche Active Suspension Management is standard across the range. Rear-axle steering is also available, while Porsche Active Ride can be specified on selected variants to further improve the balance between ride comfort and handling.
Powering the Cayenne Electric is a newly developed 113 kWh high-voltage battery with double-sided cooling for improved thermal management. Depending on the variant, the SUV offers a combined WLTP range of up to 653 km, with the standard Cayenne Electric rated for up to 642 km and the Turbo Electric offering up to 623 km.
The Cayenne Electric also adopts an 800-volt electrical architecture, allowing it to accept up to 390 kW of DC charging power, and under specific conditions, as much as 400 kW. Under suitable charging conditions, the battery can be replenished from 10 to 80 per cent in less than 16 minutes. Porsche also says just 10 minutes of charging can add up to 325 km of range for the Cayenne Electric or 315 km for the Cayenne Turbo Electric.
While the Cayenne Electric introduces a new electric powertrain, Porsche has retained the familiar proportions and design cues that have defined the SUV. The front features a low bonnet line and slim Matrix LED headlights, while the strongly sculpted wings and signature sloping flyline give the vehicle a recognisable Porsche appearance. At the rear, a 3D-effect light strip and illuminated Porsche lettering add a more contemporary touch. The Turbo Electric receives additional Turbonite accents, including on the Porsche crests, alloy wheels and side window trims.
Aerodynamic efficiency has also played a major role in the development of the new Cayenne. The SUV achieves a drag coefficient of just 0.25, supported by Porsche Active Aerodynamics, movable cooling air flaps, an adaptive roof spoiler and, on the Turbo Electric, active rear aeroblades. An optional Off-Road package is also available for customers looking for greater capability on rough roads and more challenging terrain.
The move to electric power has also brought additional dimensions and interior space. The new Cayenne Electric measures 4,985 mm long, 1,980 mm wide and 1,674 mm high, making it 55 mm longer than the combustion-engined Cayenne. Its 3,023 mm wheelbase is almost 13 cm longer, creating additional rear legroom. The electrically adjustable rear seats can also be configured between a more comfortable seating position and one designed to maximise cargo capacity. Luggage capacity ranges from 781 to 1,588 litres, while a 90-litre front luggage compartment provides additional storage. Depending on equipment, the Cayenne Electric can also tow up to 3.5 tonnes.
Inside, Porsche has introduced new Mood Modes that adjust elements such as the seating position, ambient lighting, air conditioning, sound profile and display appearance according to the selected programme. Other highlights include a sliding Panoramic Roof with Variable Light Control, panel heating covering areas such as armrests and door panels, and an expanded ambient lighting system featuring a communication light that can display various vehicle states.
The Cayenne Electric also introduces a new Porsche Driver Experience, centred around a curved OLED Flow Display integrated into the centre console. It is joined by a 14.25-inch fully digital instrument cluster and an optional 14.9-inch passenger display. Together, these create the largest display area ever offered in a Porsche.
For the first time in a Cayenne, an augmented-reality head-up display is also available, projecting information over an area equivalent to an 87-inch display positioned 10 metres ahead of the vehicle. Despite the extensive digitalisation, Porsche has retained physical controls for frequently used functions such as air conditioning and audio volume.
The new Porsche Digital Interaction system further expands connectivity and personalisation through widgets, display themes, third-party applications, streaming and gaming features. An AI-powered Voice Pilot is also capable of understanding more complex, contextual requests. The Porsche Digital Key allows compatible smartphones and smartwatches to be used as vehicle keys, which can then be shared with up to seven additional users.
Porsche Malaysia is also giving the Cayenne Electric range an enhanced level of standard equipment specifically for the local market. Even the entry-level Cayenne Electric comes with four-zone automatic climate control, 14-way electrically adjustable front comfort seats, electric rear side-window sunblinds and a BOSE Surround Sound System. It also receives the Sport Chrono Package with Electric Sport Sound, Automatic Parking with 2D Surround View and rear-axle steering as standard.
The Cayenne S Electric adds HD Matrix LED headlights as standard, while the range-topping Turbo Electric receives a Burmester sound system, Mood Modes and an augmented-reality head-up display as standard. The range also comes with a Storage Package, a 230V socket in the luggage compartment, an Air Quality System and Porsche Wireless Charging Preparation.
Alongside the conventional SUV body style, Porsche is also introducing Cayenne Coupé Electric models. The Coupé adopts a more pronounced roofline inspired by the Porsche 911, with the sloping silhouette helping to reduce aerodynamic drag. Its drag coefficient falls to 0.23 compared with 0.25 for the SUV, allowing the Coupé Electric to achieve up to 669 km of WLTP range depending on the variant. Despite its sportier shape, the Coupé remains practical, offering between 534 and 1,347 litres of luggage capacity, plus the same 90-litre front luggage compartment.
With the arrival of the Cayenne Electric, Malaysian buyers can choose from six electric variants covering both SUV and Coupé body styles:
- Cayenne Electric – RM699,000
- Cayenne S Electric – RM759,000
- Cayenne Turbo Electric – RM969,999
- Cayenne Coupé Electric – RM749,000
- Cayenne S Coupé Electric – RM805,000
- Cayenne Turbo Coupé Electric – RM999,999
