Mercedes-Benz Malaysia has introduced the new Mercedes-Maybach SL 680 Monogram Series, transforming the legendary SL roadster into an exclusive two-seat expression of Maybach luxury. Positioned at the intersection of open-top driving pleasure and high-end craftsmanship, the SL 680 Monogram Series combines a powerful V8 engine with distinctive Maybach styling, an extensively appointed cabin and a range of technologies designed to deliver exceptional comfort on every journey.

“The Mercedes-Maybach SL 680 Monogram Series is designed for customers who value individuality and exceptional detail,” said Nadia Trimmel, Chief Operating Officer (COO), Mercedes-Benz Cars Malaysia. “Its sporty two-seater character, open-top freedom, and exquisite Maybach design come together to offer a truly special driving experience.”

The Malaysian-market SL 680 Monogram Series is available in two specially curated exterior themes. The Red Ambience specification combines an obsidian black metallic upper section with MANUFAKTUR garnet red metallic, while the White Ambience version pairs obsidian black metallic with MANUFAKTUR opalite white magno. Both treatments highlight the roadster’s sculpted proportions while giving it a distinctly bespoke character.

Adding to its visual identity is an obsidian black bonnet featuring the Maybach pattern in graphite grey uni. The intricate finish is produced through a highly detailed process involving multiple stages of coating, hand-sanding, pattern application and clear-lacquer finishing. At the front, the illuminated chrome-finished Maybach grille and integrated MAYBACH lettering are complemented by an upright Mercedes star and a chrome fin running along the bonnet. Rose-gold detailing within the headlights adds another layer of sophistication.

The design is further distinguished by a dedicated front apron, chrome windscreen frame, chrome sill inserts and 21-inch forged five-hole wheels. At the rear, Maybach-specific elements include the illuminated Maybach signet within the rear lights, chrome-trimmed rear apron, dedicated diffuser and distinctive tailpipe surrounds. Behind the seats, an aerodynamic double scoop gives the roadster a more dramatic profile, particularly when the soft top is lowered. The extensively insulated fabric roof is finished in black with a subtle anthracite Maybach pattern, while silver brake callipers carrying MAYBACH lettering provide a visual reminder of the car’s performance credentials.

Inside, the SL 680 Monogram Series takes the luxury experience even further with crystal white sustainably tanned Nappa leather covering the seats, door panels and centre console. The comfort seats feature a new floral upholstery design, while the space behind the occupants is also finished in white leather. Galvanised seat backrests and silver chrome trim provide contrast, complemented by a MANUFAKTUR crystal white MICROCUT microfibre roof liner.

The driver’s environment centres around a fully digital 12.3-inch instrument display and an electrically adjustable 11.9-inch central display, both incorporating Maybach-specific graphics and start-up animations. Other exclusive touches include a wood-and-leather multifunction steering wheel, stainless-steel pedals, illuminated Maybach door sills and a high-gloss white vehicle key with rose-gold detailing.

Comfort technology is equally extensive. AIRSCARF channels warm air around the neck and nape of the driver and passenger, allowing open-top driving to remain comfortable in cooler conditions. The ENERGIZING Package Plus adds coordinated seat climate control, ambient lighting, multi-contour seats and massage functions, while a Burmester high-end 3D surround sound system, head-up display and high-pile floor mats further enhance the cabin experience.

Despite its focus on luxury, the SL 680 Monogram Series remains a genuine performance roadster. Power comes from a 4.0-litre biturbo V8 producing 430 kW, equivalent to 585hp, and 800 Nm of torque between 2,500 and 5,000 rpm. Power is delivered through a nine-speed 9G TRONIC automatic transmission, enabling the roadster to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.1 seconds before reaching a top speed of 260 km/h.

Mercedes-Maybach has nevertheless placed considerable emphasis on refinement. A noise-optimised exhaust system, extensive acoustic insulation, absorption measures, comfort-oriented suspension settings and soft engine mounts are designed to create a quieter and smoother driving experience.

The SL 680 also features rear-axle steering to balance agility with stability, while an electronic rear-axle locking differential helps optimise power distribution and improve traction. ACTIVE RIDE CONTROL suspension further enhances ride comfort and handling, while the front axle lift system can raise the front end by up to 30mm to help protect the bumper when negotiating ramps and other obstacles.

The extensive equipment list includes the Driving Assistance Package, Parking Package with Memory Parking Assist, MAGIC VISION CONTROL and GUARD 360° vehicle protection Plus with Digital Extras. Together, these systems complement the SL 680’s combination of performance, comfort and exclusivity, reinforcing its role as a roadster designed not simply for speed, but for a highly curated driving experience.

For Malaysian buyers seeking an even more individualised specification, Mercedes-Benz is also offering extensive personalisation options through its online configurator. The Mercedes-Maybach SL 680 Monogram Series is estimated to start from RM2.25 million in Peninsular Malaysia, on-the-road without insurance.
