Mercedes-Benz FashionWeek Kuala Lumpur (MBFWKL) 2026 returns from 21 to 23 August at The Exchange TRX, bringing together the worlds of fashion, art and automotive design under this year’s theme, “Welcome to Couture. Welcome to Beyond.” Now in its eighth edition, MBFWKL has evolved beyond a conventional fashion showcase, positioning itself as a broader celebration of contemporary luxury and creative expression.
At the heart of this year’s event is the unveiling of the new Mercedes-Maybach SL 680 Monogram Series, which makes its anticipated appearance in Malaysia alongside collections from 19 established and emerging designers. The event also forms part of Mercedes-Benz’s wider celebration of 140 Years of Innovation, highlighting a heritage built on craftsmanship, pioneering technology and an ongoing ambition to redefine luxury.
According to Martin Schulz, CEO & President of Mercedes-Benz Cars Malaysia and Head of Region, Mercedes-Benz Cars Southeast Asia, this year’s theme reflects the brand’s direction as it enters a new chapter while remaining firmly connected to its heritage. “Welcome to Couture. Welcome to Beyond.” reflects the shared philosophy between fashion and automotive design, where individuality, distinctive aesthetics and meticulous attention to detail remain central to the creation of exceptional experiences.
One of the biggest highlights of MBFWKL 2026 is the Mercedes-Maybach SL 680 Monogram Series, an open-top roadster that combines the character of the SL with the distinctive luxury associated with Maybach. The model retains the SL’s open-air driving character while introducing an exclusive Maybach design language, premium craftsmanship and a heightened level of refinement. Its signature Monogram treatment, elegant proportions and luxurious interior reinforce its positioning as an exceptionally exclusive roadster.
Its appearance at MBFWKL is particularly fitting, with Mercedes-Benz drawing parallels between the painstaking craftsmanship found in haute couture and the design process behind its most exclusive automobiles. Nadia Trimmel, Chief Operating Officer of Mercedes-Benz Cars Malaysia, described the model as an expression of Maybach’s focus on exclusive design, open-top character and attention to detail, with every element contributing to an experience centred on exclusivity. The automotive showcase will be complemented by a diverse line-up of 19 designers and labels, each presenting their interpretation of modern luxury through individual design philosophies.
Making their MBFWKL debut are JOYCE COUTURE, Ethereal by Amni S, ROMANCE 1314, D I Studios and ARUNSAYFULL, bringing new creative perspectives to the event. The 2026 edition also expands its regional representation. Singapore-based Furry Tales by Leia combines fashion, art and lifestyle with animal-inspired designs while promoting awareness of animal rescue, adoption and wildlife conservation. Indonesia’s BLANC STUDIO, meanwhile, introduces a contemporary unisex aesthetic influenced by minimalism, self-expression and streetwear.
They will be joined by established names including Justin Yap, Dickson Lim, Coterie by Celest Thoi, EL by Ellie Lim, byThian, P-23, SEIBU, TEMMA PRASETIO and DIKSON MAH. Returning designers UnitedWood, SETH&LUNA MALAYA and Joe Chia further strengthen the line-up, reflecting the depth and continued development of Malaysia’s fashion industry.
Beyond the runway, MBFWKL 2026 is supported by lifestyle and experiential partners including Kimarie Hairdressing, Kimpton Naluria KL, Luen Heng, M•A•C Cosmetics, SEIBU, Signature Total Home & Living Solutions and The Exchange TRX. MBFWKL 2026 also marks the culmination of Mercedes-Benz’s week-long roadshow, which runs from 17 to 23 August and gives members of the public an opportunity to experience the brand’s vehicles, heritage and latest innovations.
A key element of the roadshow is Agility+ by Mercedes-Benz, a mobility solution combining personalised financing options, Guaranteed Future Value and a range of curated lifestyle experiences and value-added products. Through Agility+, Mercedes-Benz is extending the experience beyond the vehicle itself, creating a broader community centred around shared interests, experiences and connections.
The vehicle display at the roadshow features a broad cross-section of the Mercedes-Benz range, including the new Mercedes-Benz CLA 250+ electric, alongside the GLA 250 4MATIC Nightfall Edition, GLC 200 4MATIC, GLC 350 e 4MATIC, E 350 e and G 580 with EQ Technology. The performance-oriented line-up is further represented by the Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 4MATIC Coupé Nightfall Edition and Mercedes-AMG GT 63 4MATIC+.
With MBFWKL 2026 bringing together haute couture, automotive artistry and contemporary lifestyle, Mercedes-Benz is using the event to demonstrate how its interpretation of luxury extends well beyond the traditional boundaries of the automobile. From the intricate details of the Maybach SL 680 to the individuality of the designers taking to the runway, this year’s “Welcome to Couture. Welcome to Beyond.” theme reflects a shared pursuit of craftsmanship, creativity and the willingness to push luxury into its next chapter.
