Viper Niza Racing delivered its strongest performance to date in the Michelin 24H Series, securing a landmark overall podium finish at the 12 Hours of Nürburgring on 5 July. The Malaysian outfit not only achieved 3rd place in the GT3 class but also recorded its first-ever overall podium result across two full seasons in the championship.

The driver trio of Douglas Khoo, Dominic Ang, and Melvin Moh piloted the #65 Mercedes-AMG GT3 EVO through a demanding race defined by changing weather, Code 60 neutralisations, and multiple strategy shifts. From the opening hours, the team maintained a measured approach, steadily climbing from 10th to 8th position in the early stages while preserving pace and tyre life.

A major turning point came after a mid-race Code 60 period and subsequent red flag triggered by a heavy crash. With strategic foresight, Viper Niza Racing had already completed refuelling before the interruption, allowing them to restart the first leg of the race in a strong position—3rd overall in GT3 and leading the GT3-AM class.

On Day 2, Ang took charge at the start and maintained a consistent rhythm while managing pressure from rivals attempting to unlap themselves. For a period, the Malaysian team even found itself leading the overall classification, highlighting the effectiveness of its race strategy and consistency over long stints.

As the race approached its final stages, Viper Niza Racing opted for a decisive late pit stop for fuel and fresh tyres with just over 20 minutes remaining. The move temporarily dropped the team behind several competitors who still needed to complete their final stops. What followed was a tense closing battle as rival Porsche and Audi entries cycled through their own pit strategies.

In the final 11 minutes, Ang found himself locked in a direct fight for position with F. Grosse in the Up2Race Porsche. Despite having fresher tyres, Ang was unable to find a clear overtaking opportunity as the Porsche driver defended aggressively across the circuit. The duel went down to the final lap, with Ang crossing the line just 0.4 seconds behind to finish 3rd overall.

The team completed 300 laps of the 5.148km Nürburgring Grand Prix Circuit, finishing just one lap behind the winning GetSpeed Team JR286 entry. They also secured 2nd place in the GT3-AM class, strengthening their championship campaign.

Team Principal and lead driver Douglas Khoo described the result as a significant milestone, noting that the team executed its strategy effectively, avoided incidents, and maximised every opportunity throughout the race weekend. He added that the performance marked their strongest showing since joining the series and provided momentum heading into the final round in Barcelona.

The result also moves Viper Niza Racing into 3rd place in the GT3-AM standings with 116 points, keeping them within striking distance of the teams ahead, while also placing them 6th overall in the GT3 classification.

The season finale of the series, the 24H of Barcelona, is scheduled for 18–20 September, where Viper Niza Racing will aim to convert their Nürburgring breakthrough into a strong championship finish.
