Bosch Malaysia has reaffirmed its commitment to education and youth empowerment by contributing RM25,000 worth of professional-grade Bosch Power Tools and accessories to the MakeX Workshop at the Dignity for Children Foundation. The contribution aims to help young people develop practical skills, gain confidence, and explore future career opportunities through hands-on learning.

The latest donation marks another chapter in a partnership that has been making a meaningful impact for more than a decade. What started in 2014 with just five students, a volunteer carpenter, and three Bosch power tools has since evolved into a vibrant workshop that combines craftsmanship, creativity, and entrepreneurship.

The MakeX Workshop traces its roots to Dignity for Children Foundation’s first urban rooftop garden project. Guided by volunteer carpenter James Hyland, students were introduced to woodworking and practical problem-solving using donated tools, including equipment from Bosch. The initiative planted the seeds for what has become an important platform for vocational learning.

Today, MakeX provides students with opportunities to work on real-world projects commissioned by corporate partners while also creating handcrafted products sold through Dignity’s retail outlet, ShopX. The workshop not only develops technical skills but also introduces participants to business and entrepreneurial concepts.

Darren Chan Chon Hoe, Managing Director of Bosch and Bosch Rexroth Malaysia, highlighted the company’s belief in the transformative power of education and skills development.

He noted that Bosch remains committed to working alongside long-time partners Primavera and Dignity for Children Foundation to expand access to learning opportunities that enable children to realise their full potential.

Recognising the workshop’s role in preparing young people for the future, Bosch’s Power Tools division has provided the latest equipment and accessories to ensure students continue learning with industry-relevant tools. The contribution is expected to support the workshop’s growth and help it deliver even more impactful programmes in the years ahead.

Riza Ferdiansyah Fachri, Country Business Director of Bosch Power Tools Malaysia, said craftsmanship can open doors to meaningful careers, sustainable livelihoods, and entrepreneurial ventures. He added that the partnership aims to help the next generation transform practical skills into real opportunities.

The initiative also reflects Bosch’s broader philosophy of creating technology that is “Invented for Life,” with education remaining a key pillar in its efforts to generate long-term positive change in communities.

The donation further strengthens Bosch’s longstanding relationship with Dignity for Children Foundation through Primavera, a charitable organisation established by Bosch associates to support educational initiatives for children and youth in emerging and developing countries.

Beyond vocational training, Bosch has also been supporting Dignity through its regional Bosch Mobility Aftermarket #CareForLife programme. Since 2023, the Malaysian team, together with Primavera, has championed the #CareForSafety initiative, which includes funding school transportation for 49 children across the Klang Valley to ensure safe and reliable access to education.

According to Dillion Goh, Country Business Director of Bosch Mobility Aftermarket Malaysia, road safety is central to Bosch’s business, and that commitment extends beyond vehicles by helping children travel safely to and from school so they can focus on learning and achieving their goals.

Founded in Sentul, Kuala Lumpur, in 1998 with just 20 students, Dignity for Children Foundation has grown into an organisation that serves more than 2,000 children and young people annually through education, vocational training, and life-skills programmes.

As Dignity continues to expand its reach, partnerships with organisations such as Bosch play an important role in equipping underserved youth with the tools, skills, and opportunities needed to build brighter futures. Through initiatives like the MakeX Workshop, young people are not only learning a trade but also gaining the confidence and experience to shape their own paths forward.
