Volvo Car Malaysia has unveiled the new Volvo Wallbox, a dedicated home charging solution designed to make electric vehicle ownership more convenient and hassle-free for both battery electric vehicle (BEV) and plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) owners.
As the adoption of electrified vehicles continues to grow, Volvo aims to enhance the ownership experience beyond the vehicle itself. The Volvo Wallbox has been developed to provide a reliable, user-friendly, and fully integrated home charging solution that aligns with the brand’s focus on premium convenience and Scandinavian-inspired design.
According to Sun Qian, Head of Commercial Offer APeC at Volvo Cars, the company’s goal is to support customers throughout every stage of their ownership journey. The Wallbox is fully integrated with the Volvo Cars App, allowing users to manage both their vehicle and home charging setup directly from their smartphones.
The Volvo Wallbox delivers charging speeds of up to 11 kW when connected to a three-phase electrical installation, helping drivers recharge their vehicles efficiently at home. Its clean and minimalist design carries Volvo branding, while its IP55-rated construction ensures durability and protection against environmental elements. The charger also comes equipped with a standard Type 2 charging cable.
A key feature of the Wallbox is its smart connectivity. Through Wi-Fi, Ethernet, or an optional SIM card connection, users can remotely monitor charging progress, start or stop charging sessions, review charging history, and schedule charging times via the Volvo Cars App. These capabilities help owners optimise energy consumption and integrate charging into their daily routines.
For households with multiple drivers or shared parking facilities, the Wallbox includes two RFID access cards, enabling owners to control and manage who can use the charger. This added layer of access management enhances security and convenience in shared environments.
Looking ahead, Volvo has also equipped the Wallbox with future-ready functionality. The system can be connected to an external energy meter, enabling compatibility with solar energy systems and allowing drivers to charge their vehicles using surplus solar-generated electricity.
The Volvo Wallbox is now available at Volvo dealerships across Malaysia at a retail price of RM3,990. Customers will also benefit from a comprehensive 36-month hardware warranty for added peace of mind. To ensure safe and professional installation, Volvo Car Malaysia has partnered with EV Connection Sdn Bhd, offering installation packages starting from RM1,600.
