SAIC Motor Malaysia celebrated the growing strength of the MG community at the Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show (KLIMS) 2026 by hosting a special MG Car Club Gathering that brought together owners, enthusiasts and prospective customers in a vibrant showcase of the brand’s heritage and electrified future.
Held during the KLIMS 2026 weekend, the gathering attracted 39 privately owned MG vehicles, creating an impressive display that highlighted the marque’s journey through the decades. The collection featured 34 modern MG electric vehicles alongside five classic MG models, illustrating how the iconic British brand has successfully evolved while maintaining its rich automotive legacy.
The event united members from Kelab MG Malaysia and MG EV Club Malaysia, representing both long-time custodians of the brand’s heritage and a new generation of owners embracing electric mobility. Together, the clubs showcased the diversity of the MG ownership experience and the strong sense of community that continues to grow around the brand.
According to SAIC Motor Malaysia Chief Operating Officer Hoffen Teh, owning an MG extends beyond simply driving a vehicle. He noted that the brand fosters a passionate and connected community where owners can share experiences, build friendships and celebrate their appreciation for MG. Teh added that gatherings such as these provide a unique opportunity for classic and modern MG owners to interact while allowing potential customers to witness the camaraderie that comes with MG ownership.
The gathering also highlighted SAIC Motor Malaysia’s commitment to engaging with customers and enthusiasts as it continues expanding its range of electrified vehicles in Malaysia.
Kelab MG Malaysia President Haresh Chandnani reflected on the club’s milestone achievement, noting that the organisation has been preserving and celebrating MG vehicles for the past 50 years. As one of Malaysia’s oldest automotive clubs, it continues to serve as a platform for enthusiasts to exchange knowledge on restoration, maintenance and ownership while building lasting friendships through their shared passion.
Representing the newer generation of MG enthusiasts, MG EV Club Malaysia brought together members who have embraced the brand’s electric vehicle offerings. The club currently boasts approximately 360 members nationwide, reflecting the increasing popularity of MG’s EV lineup among Malaysian motorists.
Visitors to the gathering were treated to a wide-ranging display of MG models. Modern vehicles on show included the MGS5 EV, MG ZS, MG4 and the striking Cyberster roadster, demonstrating the brand’s commitment to electrified mobility. Complementing these contemporary models were several well-preserved classics from the 1960s and 1970s, including the MG TD, MG YT Tourer, MG Midget, MGB GT and MGA, each serving as a reminder of MG’s enduring appeal across generations.
Past President of Kelab MG Malaysia, Johnny Chandnani, highlighted that the continued existence of these classic vehicles is a testament to the dedication and passion of their owners. He described the gathering as a meaningful celebration of both the club’s 50th anniversary and the evolution of a brand that has been admired by enthusiasts for more than a century.
MG EV Club Malaysia President James Lew En Loong also shared his personal connection to the brand, explaining that his journey with MG began when he transitioned to an electric vehicle in 2025. He noted that seeing modern EVs displayed alongside heritage models offered a unique perspective on MG’s history and future. Lew expressed confidence that the growing number of MG EV models and the expansion of charging infrastructure would attract even more owners to the community in the years ahead.
Adding to the excitement at KLIMS 2026, visitors were invited to participate in the #MyMGKLIMSMoment2026 social media contest. Running throughout the show from 12 to 21 June 2026, the campaign encourages attendees to share photos or videos of their experience at the MG booth on Facebook or Instagram. Participants stand a chance to win prizes including an MG Cyberster diecast model and Touch ’n Go eWallet credits.
The MG Car Club Gathering formed an important part of SAIC Motor Malaysia’s overall presence at KLIMS 2026. By bringing together heritage models and modern EVs under one roof, the event demonstrated MG’s unique ability to bridge generations of enthusiasts while celebrating more than a century of automotive history and looking confidently towards an electrified future.
In addition to the community-focused activities, SAIC Motor Malaysia also used the event to preview the all-new MG ZS ahead of its official launch. Customers who place an early booking for the compact SUV with a RM99 booking fee during the promotional period will receive a RM3,000 rebate as well as three years of complimentary maintenance, adding further excitement to MG’s growing presence in the Malaysian market.
