The 11th edition of the Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show (KLIMS) 2026 concluded on a high note after attracting more than 205,440 visitors during its 10-day run at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC). Organised by the Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA) and managed by Qube Integrated Malaysia Sdn. Bhd., the event reflected the growing transformation of Malaysia’s automotive landscape as manufacturers increasingly embrace electrification, connectivity and sustainable mobility solutions.
Held under the theme “Beyond Mobility”, KLIMS 2026 occupied seven exhibition halls and featured a broad mix of automotive and mobility brands. Passenger vehicle manufacturers such as Dongfeng, GWM, Honda, Hyundai, Jetour, Kia, Maxus, Mazda, MG Motor, Nissan, Perodua, Proton, Proton e.MAS, smart, Toyota, Wuling, XPENG and Zeekr were joined by motorcycle brands AFAZ and Suzuki, creating one of the region’s most comprehensive mobility showcases.
Beyond the exhibition floor, organisers reported strong commercial interest from visitors, with exhibitors benefiting from sustained engagement throughout the event. Interactive attractions also proved popular, particularly the “Experience The Drive” programme and Urban Play obstacle course, which allowed attendees to experience new vehicle technologies firsthand. Car Club Gatherings further contributed to the event’s atmosphere, bringing together enthusiasts from across the country.
According to MAA President Mohd Shamsor Mohd Zain, KLIMS has evolved beyond a traditional motor show into a broader platform that connects stakeholders across the mobility ecosystem. He noted that the strong turnout from both exhibitors and visitors reflects the automotive sector’s continued transition towards electrification, innovation and smarter transport solutions.
One of the biggest draws of KLIMS 2026 was the extensive list of vehicle launches and previews. Proton highlighted its electric vehicle ambitions with the locally assembled e.MAS 5 and e.MAS 7 Premium Plus, while Honda introduced the Prelude hybrid coupe. Hyundai showcased the high-performance Ioniq 5 N and Ioniq 6 N, marking the local arrival of its N performance division, alongside the Stargazer MPV.
Other manufacturers also used the event to unveil new products. Mazda introduced the CX-60 MHEV, MG Motor displayed the ZS Hybrid+ and Cyberster roadster, while Jetour launched the T2 i-DM plug-in hybrid SUV and G700 SUV. These introductions highlighted the increasing variety of electrified and alternative-powertrain vehicles entering the Malaysian market.
Concept vehicles and future mobility technologies also played a significant role. Perodua revealed its C2 Concept EV sedan and QV-E G+ Edition, offering a glimpse into its future direction. Toyota presented an electrified interpretation of the Corolla, while Proton showcased its FutureMotion hybrid-electric powertrain. Among the more unconventional exhibits, XPENG attracted attention with its X2 flying car concept, while Dongfeng previewed the premium Voyah Dream MPV.
Several global brands leveraged KLIMS 2026 as a platform for regional previews. Zeekr displayed the flagship 9X SUV and 009 Grand MPV, Kia presented future models including the EV4, EV5, PV5 and K4, while GWM showcased the Ora 5 HEV and Haval Raptor. Nissan introduced an updated X-Trail e-Power, and Dongfeng expanded its line-up with the 008 EV SUV and M-Hero II plug-in hybrid.
The event also broadened its appeal through entertainment and lifestyle activities. Live performances by Malaysian artists including Ella, Anuar Zain, Lah Ahmad, FUGŌ and Kyoto Protocol added a festival-like atmosphere. KLIMS also partnered with RIUH for the first time, bringing creative entrepreneurs, hobby communities and cultural performances into the exhibition environment.
To further encourage participation, visitors competed for lucky draw prizes worth RM125,000, including a Perodua Bezza AV awarded to grand prize winner Foo Yan Ling. The show also launched the KLIMS Creator Award in partnership with GoFluence, recognising content creators who helped promote the event through digital platforms. Additional activities such as the Race Car Simulator Challenge, Remote Control Car Experience and KLIMS Modified Car Battle added further engagement opportunities.
Qube Integrated Malaysia Executive Chairman Richard Teo described KLIMS 2026 as a successful blend of automotive innovation, lifestyle experiences and community engagement, reinforcing its position as a major regional mobility showcase.
While the event highlighted significant progress in electrification and future mobility technologies, it also underscored the increasingly competitive nature of the automotive market. With manufacturers racing to introduce new electric, hybrid and connected vehicles, KLIMS 2026 served as both a celebration of innovation and a reminder of the challenges facing the industry as it navigates changing consumer expectations and technological disruption.
As preparations begin for the next edition, KLIMS 2026 leaves behind a strong foundation for future growth, demonstrating the role such exhibitions continue to play in shaping discussions around mobility, sustainability and automotive development in Malaysia and the wider region.
