Grab Malaysia has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting its driver and delivery partners through a new appreciation initiative aimed at easing financial pressures while promoting long-term economic sustainability within the gig economy.

Held under the banner of Penghargaan Rakan Grab, the event recognised the vital contributions made by Grab’s partners across Malaysia. In collaboration with Central Mart, Grab distributed fuel and grocery vouchers to attendees as part of broader efforts to help partners cope with increasing living expenses.

According to Grab Malaysia, the initiative reflects the company’s broader mission of creating economic opportunities while supporting national efforts to reduce financial burdens faced by Malaysians. The company emphasised that beyond short-term relief measures, it continues to invest in tools and programmes designed to help partners build more stable and resilient income streams.

Rashid Shukor, Senior Director of Grab Malaysia, said the platform remains focused on empowering Malaysians through flexible earning opportunities backed by technology and practical support. He noted that providing assistance such as vouchers can help partners navigate challenging economic conditions while ensuring the gig economy remains sustainable for the long term.

Grab has also been enhancing its platform tools to improve earning efficiency for partners. Features such as AI Ride Guide and an upgraded incentive programme provide real-time demand forecasting and route optimisation, allowing drivers and delivery partners to maximise productivity while maintaining flexibility over their working schedules and locations.

The company highlighted the positive impact its platform has had on women seeking alternative income opportunities. A 2026 study revealed that 74 percent of Grab’s women partners experienced greater financial independence through participation on the platform, demonstrating the growing role of gig work in supporting inclusive economic participation.

Rashid added that Grab measures success not only through business growth but also through meaningful and lasting social impact. He stressed that combining technology with compassionate support enables partners to improve their livelihoods through safer, more sustainable and flexible earning opportunities.

In addition to digital tools, Grab continues to expand its partner support ecosystem through GrabBenefits, which includes personal accident insurance coverage, SOCSO contributions and cost-saving initiatives. The company also invests heavily in upskilling programmes through GrabAcademy, with more than RM10 million allocated throughout 2025 to help partners strengthen their capabilities and future prospects.
