Dunlop is steering into a renewed phase of growth in Malaysia, marking a significant milestone under the leadership of Toyotsu Binter Malaysia Sdn Bhd (TBM), now the brand’s exclusive distributor in the country. The unveiling of this new direction at Malaysia Autoshow 2026 highlights a strategic push to reinforce Dunlop’s standing in an increasingly competitive and evolving automotive landscape.
With roots in Malaysia dating back to the 1960s, Dunlop has long been a familiar name among motorists. Today, the brand is building on that legacy with a modernised approach that emphasises broader accessibility, deeper engagement with dealer networks, and a product portfolio designed to meet both traditional and electrified mobility needs.
Central to this transformation is TBM’s commitment to strengthening supply reliability and expanding its nationwide footprint. Currently supported by more than 190 authorised wholesalers, trade partners, and direct dealers—primarily across Peninsular Malaysia—the network is set to grow further over the next two years. Plans are also underway to introduce specialised retail concepts aimed at enhancing the customer experience and brand visibility.
This revitalised direction is reinforced by TBM’s connection to the Toyota Tsusho Corporation network and its collaboration with Sumitomo Rubber Industries, ensuring that Dunlop remains aligned with global standards while adapting to regional demands across Southeast Asia.
A key highlight at the autoshow is the introduction of the Blue Response TG, a passenger car tyre engineered to deliver improved ride comfort, stability, and reduced road noise. These attributes are particularly relevant as Malaysia’s vehicle market gradually shifts towards electrification, where quieter cabins and efficiency play a larger role in overall driving experience.
Beyond product innovation, Dunlop is also strengthening its presence in both the replacement and original equipment (OEM) segments. The brand’s tyres are already fitted on selected models from major automotive manufacturers such as Toyota, Lexus, Isuzu, Mazda, and Leapmotor, including electric vehicles like the Toyota bZ4X. These partnerships reflect growing confidence in Dunlop’s performance and reliability across diverse vehicle platforms.
The broader market context further underscores the importance of this shift. Electric vehicles are steadily gaining traction in Malaysia, currently accounting for roughly one in every 14 new registrations. With government targets aiming for electrified vehicles to make up 15% of total industry volume by 2030, tyre manufacturers are adapting quickly to meet new technical demands.
In response, Dunlop is expanding its EV-compatible lineup, which includes models such as the Sport Maxx Lux, SP Sport Maxx 060+, Blue Response TG, and the upcoming e.Sport Maxx. The latter is set to introduce advanced features like Silent Core Technology, enhancing cabin quietness while maintaining strong wet and dry performance alongside improved rolling resistance.
As Dunlop embraces this new chapter, its presence at Malaysia Autoshow 2026 signals more than just a relaunch—it represents a forward-looking strategy that blends decades of Japanese engineering expertise with modern mobility requirements. With a clear focus on innovation, accessibility, and electrification, Dunlop is positioning itself to remain a key player in Malaysia’s automotive future.
