In the spirit of giving during the festive season, Proton has reaffirmed its commitment to community wellbeing by contributing RM64,500 in zakat to 11 beneficiaries across Malaysia. The contributions were presented during a meaningful iftar event held at the Putrajaya Marriott Hotel, bringing together community leaders, beneficiaries, and key stakeholders.
The zakat contributions are aimed at supporting a wide range of initiatives, including the development of religious education centres, the improvement of community facilities, and the funding of educational programmes. Additionally, the aid extends to asnaf groups and underprivileged communities, ensuring assistance reaches those who need it most during the holy month.
Among the recipients were Sekolah Agama Rakyat Proton City and Masjid At-Taqwa Proton City, along with several organisations actively conducting Ramadan programmes for asnaf families and orphans. These efforts highlight Proton’s ongoing role in fostering inclusive community development beyond its core automotive business.
The event also saw participation from government representatives and officials from agencies such as the Ministry of Finance Malaysia, Malaysian Investment Development Authority, and the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living. Their presence underscores the collaborative approach between the private sector and public institutions in driving impactful social initiatives.
Speaking at the event, Deputy Chief Executive Officer Rashid Musa emphasised that Proton’s responsibilities extend beyond mobility. He highlighted the company’s dedication to creating lasting value through community-focused programmes that strengthen social foundations across the nation.
Complementing its charitable efforts, Proton also unveiled its latest Hari Raya film titled “Darah Biru” during the iftar gathering. The film marks the fifth instalment in the brand’s Raya storytelling series, a campaign that has grown into a meaningful platform for connecting with Malaysians since its introduction in 2022.
Released across Proton’s official social media channels, “Darah Biru” has already attracted nearly two million views, resonating strongly with audiences. Featuring performances by Jalil Hamid, Sathia Periasamy, and Akmal Ahmad, the film explores themes of unity, resilience, and togetherness—values that reflect the everyday experiences of Malaysians during the festive season.
Through both its zakat contributions and creative storytelling, Proton continues to demonstrate a holistic approach to corporate responsibility, blending meaningful community support with culturally resonant engagement that brings people closer together.
