Tesla is stepping up its offering for Malaysian customers with the Model Y L, a new six-seat SUV that combines increased passenger practicality with stronger performance, long-distance driving range and an expanding ownership ecosystem. The latest Model Y L is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.5 seconds, giving the six-seat SUV a more responsive and engaging character while retaining its focus on family-oriented comfort.

The Model Y L also offers a driving range of up to 681 km based on the WLTP cycle, providing greater flexibility for both everyday journeys and longer road trips. Priced from RM263,000, the Model Y L is now available to order in Malaysia, with monthly payments starting from RM1,988. Customers can also receive a complimentary acceleration boost as part of the current offer.

Designed as a family-focused SUV, the Model Y L provides seating for six occupants while combining Tesla’s approach to safety, efficiency and technology. The additional seating capacity gives families greater flexibility when carrying passengers, while the vehicle’s performance credentials ensure that practicality does not come at the expense of driving response. Safety remains a key element of the Tesla ownership proposition. Tesla vehicles have achieved top safety ratings from major organisations across different markets, including NHTSA and IIHS in the United States, Euro NCAP in Europe, ANCAP in Australia and New Zealand, and C-IASI in China.

The arrival of the Model Y L comes alongside Tesla’s continued expansion of its retail and charging footprint in Malaysia, aimed at making ownership more convenient for customers across the country. Tesla currently operates 21 Supercharger sites with a total of 92 Superchargers in Malaysia, complemented by 18 Destination Charging locations with 78 Wall Connectors. The company is also set to add six more charging sites by the end of 2026, with new locations planned across Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Perak, Seremban and Penang.

Beyond public charging, Tesla says more than 13,000 households in Malaysia have been enabled to charge their vehicles at home, giving owners the option of starting each day with a charged vehicle while reducing reliance on public charging for routine journeys. The expanding Supercharger network also supports longer-distance travel across the region, including journeys between Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand. Tesla says its charging infrastructure provides access to high-speed charging along key regional routes used for tourism, business and long-distance travel. Cross-border warranty coverage, service access and connectivity further support Tesla owners travelling between the three countries.

Alongside the Model Y L introduction, Tesla is offering limited-time benefits across its Model 3, Model Y and Model Y L range. For the Model 3, customers can choose a fixed interest rate starting from 0.58% or a trade-in rebate of up to RM10,000. The Model Y is available with a fixed interest rate starting from 0.88% or a trade-in rebate of up to RM15,000.

Tesla’s Refer and Earn programme also allows existing owners to share their personal referral links with friends and family. Under the current programme, a qualifying new buyer receives RM1,000 off their new Tesla, while the referring owner receives RM500 in Tesla Credits. The credits can be redeemed for selected benefits, including Supercharging credits and software upgrades.

Customers can experience the Model 3, Model Y and Model Y L at Tesla locations across Malaysia. In the Klang Valley, locations include the Tesla Experience Centre at Mid Valley Megamall, Tesla Centre Cyberjaya, Tesla Experience Centre at Pavilion Damansara Heights and a pop-up display at Setia City Mall.

Outside the Klang Valley, Tesla has Experience Centres at Gurney Plaza in Penang, The Mall, Mid Valley Southkey in Johor and The Spring Kuching in Sarawak.

With the Model Y L bringing six-seat practicality, a 681 km WLTP range and 4.5-second acceleration to Tesla’s Malaysian line-up, the company’s latest offering is being introduced alongside a broader push to expand retail access, charging infrastructure and support for long-distance and cross-border travel. The Model Y L is available to order through Tesla Malaysia, while customers can also register for a test drive to experience the vehicle firsthand.
