The Toyota Malaysia Pickle Tour 2026 has wrapped up its five-city journey across Malaysia, bringing together more than 1,500 participants and demonstrating just how quickly pickleball is growing as a sport that brings Malaysians of all ages together. Organised by UMW Toyota Motor with the support of the Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS), the second edition of the Toyota Malaysia Pickle Tour travelled across Sarawak, Sabah, Johor, Penang and Selangor.
The tour began in Kuching before making stops in Kota Kinabalu, Johor Bahru and George Town, eventually reaching its final destination at Subang Jaya. Across the five locations, 637 adults and 289 juniors took part in competitive matches, while another 177 participants joined coaching clinics. The event also proved that pickleball is not limited by age. Junior categories welcomed players as young as seven, while the adult competition included a Mixed Doubles category for players aged 50 and above.
Adding an unusual twist to the competition was the Tour’s “Solo Entry. Team Glory.” format. Rather than registering as established teams, adult participants entered individually before being grouped into teams for the competition, creating opportunities for players to meet and compete alongside new partners. With RM175,000 in prize money up for grabs, each stop featured separate adult and junior competitions, with winners crowned at every leg.
According to Datuk Ravindran K., President of UMW Toyota Motor, the growth of the event in just its second year highlights the strength of the pickleball community across Malaysia. He said the tour had evolved into more than simply a sporting competition, with players, families and local pickleball communities helping shape the event as it travelled from one location to another.
The nationwide reach of the 2026 edition also gave Toyota an opportunity to bring its “Mobility for All” philosophy into the sporting arena, using the tour as a platform for people to move, participate and connect regardless of their age or experience level. The five-stop event was supported by Official Tournament Partner JOOLA, alongside Fred Perry and MILO, with additional support from G Hotel, AirFly, ATF, Salonpas, CK Ingredient, THERMOS and KAO.
The opening stop at Star Pickleball in Tunku Ibrahim, Kuching saw Team bZ4X emerge as champions, followed by Team GR86 and Team Corolla Cross. In Kota Kinabalu, Team GR Corolla took the top spot at Pickleground, Jesselton Quay Central, with Team GR86 finishing runner-up and Team Corolla Cross taking third.
The action continued in Johor Bahru at Play! at Dewani, where Team GR Corolla claimed another victory. Team Veloz finished second, while Team Vellfire secured third place. At Pickle by the Sea along Gurney Drive in Penang, Team Urban Cruiser emerged victorious, ahead of Team Vellfire and Team Yaris Cross. The final stop at Playa Racquet Club in Subang Jaya saw Team Urban Cruiser claim the championship, with Team Vellfire finishing second and Team Veloz taking third.
With the final matches now completed, the Toyota Malaysia Pickle Tour 2026 has concluded its five-state journey. However, the organisers say the bigger achievement lies in the community that developed around the tour. By taking the competition beyond a single venue and bringing it to both East and West Malaysia, the event provided players of different generations and experience levels with opportunities to compete, learn and make new connections.
