BYD Sime Motors is giving Malaysia’s 69th Merdeka celebrations an electric twist with the introduction of the 2026 BYD ATTO 3 Performance, a new range-topping variant limited to just 69 units nationwide. Created as a symbolic nod to Malaysia’s 69th Independence Day, the limited-edition model also completes the 2026 BYD ATTO 3 line-up, joining the existing Ultra and Premium variants.

But while the number 69 may be the reason for its exclusivity, the Performance name tells you what really sets this ATTO 3 apart. The new variant packs a dual-motor all-wheel-drive powertrain producing a combined 330 kW and 560 Nm, making it the most powerful ATTO 3 offered in Malaysia to date. It can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.0 seconds, giving the electric SUV a considerably more energetic personality.

That extra performance also brings added traction and confidence, whether tackling city streets, highways or Malaysia’s unpredictable weather. Despite its performance credentials, BYD has not turned the ATTO 3 into a one-dimensional speed machine. The Performance retains the model’s practical SUV format, comfortable cabin and everyday usability.

Power comes from a 74.88 kWh Blade Battery, with support for DC fast charging of up to 220 kW. It also offers a claimed 530 km NEDC driving range, giving owners the flexibility to use it for daily commuting as well as longer weekend drives. The Performance variant also gains several technology and convenience upgrades. These include a Windscreen Head-Up Display (W-HUD) and, making its first appearance in the ATTO 3 range, a vehicle refrigerator with both cooling and heating functions.

It also carries over the Advanced Driver Assistance Systems from the Premium variant, including Intelligent Speed Limit Control, Traffic Sign Recognition, Front Cross Traffic Alert and Front Cross Traffic Brake. In other words, the Performance variant is not simply about getting to 100 km/h quickly. It aims to make the entire driving experience more engaging while preserving the practicality expected from an everyday electric SUV.

The arrival of the new model also gives Malaysian buyers a clearer three-tier ATTO 3 line-up. The Ultra serves as the more accessible entry point, the Premium focuses on range and rear-wheel-drive performance, while the Performance sits at the top with its significantly higher output and all-wheel-drive capability.

According to BYD Malaysia Managing Director Jacob Ma, the ATTO 3 has already played an important role in making electric mobility more accessible to Malaysian motorists, with the new Performance variant taking that proposition a step further. The model has certainly built a sizeable presence locally. BYD Sime Motors says more than 13,000 ATTO 3 units are now on Malaysian roads, highlighting the electric SUV’s popularity since its introduction.

For the Performance variant, exclusivity is guaranteed by its strictly limited allocation of just 69 units. Priced at RM149,800, the 2026 BYD ATTO 3 Performance sits above the RM125,800 Ultra and RM138,800 Premium. The Performance is available in Ski White, Atlantis Grey, Harbour Grey and Cosmos Black, while the Premium adds the new Gemilang Blue colour to its palette.

To sweeten the launch, BYD Sime Motors is also offering an exclusive launch package. Customers can choose between Option A, comprising a wall charger with standard installation plus overtrade benefits worth up to RM6,000, or Option B, which combines a six-year standard service package with overtrade benefits worth up to RM5,000. The limited-edition ATTO 3 Performance is covered by BYD’s comprehensive warranty package, including a six-year/150,000 km vehicle warranty, an eight-year/160,000 km high-voltage Blade Battery warranty, and an eight-year/160,000 km drive unit warranty. Owners will also receive a Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) adapter and Type 2 charging cable with a three-pin plug as complimentary accessories.

The 2026 BYD ATTO 3 Performance is available for viewing and booking at authorised BYD showrooms from today. Customers can also visit BYD showrooms from 11 to 13 September to experience the new performance-oriented EV up close.
