When you think of a Lamborghini, emergency medical transport probably isn’t the first thing that comes to mind. But that is exactly what the latest Lamborghini Temerario is being asked to do after joining the Italian State Police. Unveiled at Automobili Lamborghini’s headquarters in Sant’Agata Bolognese, the special Temerario Polizia will be used for critical duties including the emergency transportation of organs and medical supplies — proving that even a 920-CV supercar can have a very serious day job.

The Temerario combines an all-new 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 with three electric motors, producing a total 920 CV. While its performance credentials are unmistakably Lamborghini, its most important feature for the police is the ability to get critical medical cargo where it needs to be as quickly as possible. This isn’t Lamborghini’s first time wearing police colours, either. The relationship with the Italian State Police dates back to 2004, when the first Gallardo entered service and completed its first organ transport mission that same year.

Since then, Lamborghini police cars including the Gallardo LP 560-4, Huracán and Urus Performante have served across Italy. In more than two decades, six Lamborghini vehicles have joined the police fleet and collectively taken part in more than 200 organ transport missions. Some of those missions have helped save lives, while the cars have also appeared at more than 1,500 road safety education events promoting safer driving.

The Temerario now carries that unusual but meaningful legacy forward. Instead of simply being the car everyone wants to photograph when it passes by, this particular Lamborghini has a rather more important purpose — getting there when every second counts. The unveiling also featured the presentation of I motori della Polizia, a book documenting the history of vehicles used by the Italian State Police, from cars and motorcycles to specialist vehicles.

So, while the Temerario may have the soundtrack, performance and looks of a classic Italian supercar, its latest assignment is considerably more important than turning heads. This Lamborghini has been given a job where the ultimate destination isn’t the racetrack — it’s helping save lives.
