Volvo Car Malaysia is preparing to welcome the evolved Volvo EX90, the brand’s fully electric flagship seven-seater SUV, with a range of technological and performance enhancements that further strengthen its position as one of Volvo’s most advanced models. Built around Volvo’s philosophy of understated luxury, the EX90 combines a minimalist Scandinavian design with sophisticated software, advanced safety technology and a powerful electric drivetrain. As Volvo’s first software-defined electric vehicle, the flagship SUV is designed to continuously improve through over-the-air software updates, allowing new features and refinements to be introduced throughout its life.

According to Chris Wailes, Managing Director of Volvo Car Malaysia, the EX90 reflects the company’s human-centric approach, with safety and the wellbeing of occupants remaining at the heart of its engineering philosophy. The EX90’s approach to safety extends beyond simply reducing the consequences of an accident. Its suite of active safety technologies is designed to help prevent incidents from occurring in the first place.

At the heart of its safety architecture is a central computing system that manages a sophisticated network of sensors and safety functions. Inside the cabin, intelligent sensing technology monitors the environment and occupants, allowing the vehicle to intervene when necessary while maintaining a natural and unobtrusive driving experience. This technology supports Volvo Car Malaysia’s “Selamat” philosophy, reinforcing the brand’s commitment to making road safety a shared responsibility.

Beyond its safety credentials, the evolved EX90 also brings a significant boost in electrical performance. The flagship SUV is underpinned by an 800V electrical architecture and powered by a Twin Motor All-Wheel-Drive system producing 680 hp and 870 Nm of torque. The upgraded electrical system not only supports higher output but also contributes to reduced weight and improved sustainability through lower copper usage.

With this combination of power and all-wheel-drive traction, the EX90 can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.2 seconds. Despite its performance, Volvo has retained the quiet and composed character expected of a premium flagship SUV. The result is an electric seven-seater designed to deliver effortless performance without compromising the calm, refined atmosphere of the cabin. The EX90 also retains Volvo’s signature flush Scandinavian design, complemented by adaptive driver-assistance technology and software-driven performance features.

Volvo Car Malaysia is now inviting customers to register their interest in the evolved EX90 ahead of its arrival in the local market. To mark the introduction, the first 100 customers who place an order will receive exclusive early-bird privileges, with further details to be announced at a later date. Interested customers can register their interest through Volvo Car Malaysia’s EX90 page.
