Proton e.MAS is set to strengthen its charging ecosystem in Malaysia through new strategic partnerships between Proton New Energy Technology Sdn Bhd (PRO-NET) and three established electric vehicle (EV) charging point operators (CPOs) – DC Handal, JomCharge and chargEV. The collaboration will see the introduction of e.MAS-branded charging stations at selected locations nationwide, with the initiative scheduled to begin rolling out in the third quarter of 2026.
Under the partnerships, PRO-NET and the participating CPOs will work together on branding and marketing activities at selected charging facilities, while supporting the expansion of charging infrastructure and improving the overall charging experience for e.MAS owners. The rollout will initially focus on a popular destination before expanding to other strategic, high-traffic public locations across Malaysia. These sites are intended to place e.MAS charging facilities at locations frequently visited by motorists, making charging more convenient as EV adoption continues to grow.
Adding further value for e.MAS owners, customers who use the Proton e.MAS app to make payments at participating charging stations will be eligible for discounted charging rates. The exact rates and arrangements will be determined through mutual agreements between PRO-NET and the respective CPOs.
The new partnerships build on the existing charging access available through the Proton e.MAS ecosystem. More than 4,700 charging points covering over 90% of Malaysia can currently be accessed through the Proton e.MAS app, while e.MAS vehicles are also equipped with an Integrated Live Charging Map to help drivers locate available charging facilities.
According to PRO-NET, the latest collaboration represents another step towards expanding charging accessibility while creating a more recognisable e.MAS presence within Malaysia’s public charging network. The company will also support participating CPOs in expanding their charging infrastructure, creating additional opportunities for EV users while encouraging greater participation from local vendors and industry players. The initiative therefore aligns with the Government’s localisation agenda and broader efforts to develop Malaysia’s domestic EV ecosystem.
“As more Malaysians make the transition to electric mobility, convenient and accessible charging will become an increasingly important part of the ownership experience. Through our collaboration with leading CPOs, we want to make charging more rewarding for e.MAS owners and give them greater access to charging at key locations,” said Zhang Qiang, Chief Executive Officer of PRO-NET. “This partnership brings together the strengths of PRO-NET, our charging partners and the e.MAS digital ecosystem to support our customers as EV adoption continues to grow in Malaysia.”
PRO-NET also highlighted that working with established charging operators will provide e.MAS customers with access to existing support capabilities should assistance be required during their charging sessions. Ahmad Munif Halim, Head of Charging at PRO-NET, said integrating charging access with the Proton e.MAS app would help make the process simpler while providing additional benefits to owners. “The integration of charging access with the Proton e.MAS app gives us an opportunity to make the charging experience simpler and more rewarding for e.MAS owners,” he said.
By combining the resources and networks of PRO-NET, DC Handal, JomCharge and chargEV, the partnership is expected to further expand convenient EV charging access while strengthening the Proton e.MAS ecosystem. PRO-NET said it will continue working with charging operators and Malaysian industry players to increase access to reliable charging facilities, provide greater value for e.MAS customers and contribute to the continued development of the country’s EV infrastructure.
