Ford has strengthened its position in Malaysia’s competitive pick-up truck market with the introduction of three new Ranger variants – the Ranger Platinum, Ranger Sport and Ranger XL – while celebrating a significant milestone of more than 24,000 Next-Generation Ford Rangers now on Malaysian roads since the model’s local debut in 2022.

The expanded line-up reflects changing consumer expectations, as modern pick-up buyers increasingly seek vehicles that are equally capable on the job site and comfortable enough for everyday commuting, family use and weekend adventures. Recognising this shift, Sime Darby Auto ConneXion-Ford has broadened the Ranger range to cater to a wider variety of customers, from commercial operators to lifestyle-focused buyers.

The Ranger’s reputation continues to grow both locally and globally. Ford remains the world’s best-selling pick-up manufacturer over the past decade, with approximately 5.1 million Rangers sold across more than 180 markets over the last 20 years. The model has also collected numerous international and Malaysian awards, including recent honours at the MARii Car of the Year Awards, reinforcing its standing as one of the segment’s benchmark pick-up trucks.

Leading the latest additions is the new Ranger Platinum, positioned as the premium flagship for customers seeking executive-level comfort without sacrificing capability. Powered by a 3.0-litre V6 turbo diesel engine producing 250PS and 600Nm of torque, the Platinum combines effortless performance with luxury-oriented features such as quilted leather-accented seats with heating and ventilation, exclusive Platinum interior detailing, a Bang & Olufsen audio system and a distinctive exterior highlighted by unique styling elements and a new Acacia Green paint finish.

Sitting below it is the Ranger Sport, designed for drivers who want a more dynamic appearance and greater versatility. Available with either a 3.0-litre V6 turbo diesel or a 2.0-litre turbo diesel engine, the Sport features a bold black-themed exterior, 18-inch alloy wheels, a digital instrument cluster and four-wheel-drive systems tailored to each powertrain. The combination makes it equally suitable for urban driving and outdoor activities.

Completing the trio is the Ranger XL, a practical work-focused model aimed at businesses, fleet operators and commercial users. Built around durability and functionality, the XL offers generous cargo space, enhanced safety equipment including six airbags, and intuitive technology to support daily operations while maintaining the Ranger’s renowned toughness.

Across the range, the Ranger continues to deliver the capabilities expected of a modern pick-up, including payloads of up to 1,000kg, towing capacity of up to 3,500kg and water-wading ability of up to 800mm. These are complemented by advanced drivetrain technologies, a 10-speed automatic transmission, selectable drive modes and a well-equipped cabin featuring a 12-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, dual-zone climate control and multiple USB charging ports.

Beyond introducing new models, Auto ConneXion-Ford is also enhancing ownership support with the establishment of a new Parts Hub in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. Scheduled to begin phased operations from 27 July 2026, the facility will stock around 1,000 fast-moving genuine Ford and Motorcraft parts, helping to reduce repair times and improve after-sales service for customers throughout East Malaysia. The initiative complements Ford’s nationwide network of 33 authorised dealer locations, including nine service and sales touchpoints across East Malaysia.

The new Ranger variants are now available for booking nationwide. Prices in Peninsular Malaysia start from RM127,888 for the Ranger XL, RM145,888 for the Ranger Sport 2.0L, RM159,888 for the Ranger Sport 3.0L and RM205,888 for the flagship Ranger Platinum. To mark the launch, Ford is also offering limited-time ownership promotions, including complimentary accessories and extended service plans for selected variants purchased before 31 August 2026.
