OMODA | JAECOO Malaysia has given Malaysians their first public glimpse of the upcoming JAECOO J5 EV, the brand’s first fully electric vehicle in the country, at the ongoing Oh My Meow! Expo 2026. The appearance marks an important step in the brand’s electrification strategy as it prepares to expand its range of intelligent and sustainable mobility solutions.

Held in a lifestyle-focused environment, the debut of the JAECOO J5 EV provides visitors with an early look at the electric SUV before its official launch. The showcase also highlights the vehicle’s positioning as a practical and technology-driven model designed for urban explorers, families, and pet owners seeking a versatile electric vehicle for everyday use and weekend adventures.

Head of OMODA | JAECOO Malaysia, Mr Chris Tan, said the JAECOO J5 EV represents a significant milestone for the brand as it enters Malaysia’s fully electric vehicle segment.

“The JAECOO J5 EV marks an important milestone as OMODA | JAECOO Malaysia’s first fully electric vehicle, reflecting our commitment to expanding our electrified product portfolio while meeting the evolving needs of Malaysian consumers,” he said.

“The first public appearance at Oh My Meow! Expo 2026 allows us to introduce the J5 EV in a unique lifestyle setting that perfectly complements its pet-friendly design, intelligent technologies, and everyday practicality ahead of its official launch.”

The JAECOO J5 EV combines contemporary SUV styling with electric performance, intelligent features, and practical packaging. Positioned as a vehicle for active lifestyles, the model aims to deliver a balance of efficiency, comfort, and versatility.

Powering the SUV is a front-mounted electric motor producing 155 kW and 288 Nm of torque, providing smooth acceleration and responsive performance suitable for both city driving and longer journeys.

The electric motor is paired with a 58.9 kWh CATL Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery, offering a WLTP-rated driving range of up to 402 km. For added convenience, the battery supports DC fast charging from 30% to 80% in approximately 28 minutes.

The JAECOO J5 EV also features Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality, allowing owners to use the vehicle as a mobile power source for compatible electrical devices. This feature enhances its appeal for outdoor activities such as camping and recreational trips.

Beyond its electric powertrain, the JAECOO J5 EV incorporates a range of intelligent technologies designed to enhance safety, efficiency, and convenience.

The SUV features Active Grille Shutter (AGS) Technology, which automatically adjusts airflow to improve aerodynamic efficiency and optimise performance. It is also equipped with Level 2+ Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) featuring 19 intelligent safety functions to provide additional driver support.

Other technology highlights include a 540° HD Surround View Camera System for improved visibility during parking and manoeuvring, as well as a 13.2-inch 2K central infotainment display that serves as the centre of the vehicle’s digital experience.

The JAECOO J5 EV has been developed with passenger comfort and everyday usability in mind. A large 1.45 m² panoramic glass roof creates a more open and spacious cabin atmosphere, while double-glazed front side windows help reduce external noise for a quieter driving experience.

Ride comfort is further enhanced through a rear multi-link suspension setup, while dual-zone automatic climate control allows occupants to customise cabin temperatures according to their preferences.

Practicality is another key focus, with the electric SUV offering a 35-litre front trunk for additional storage and a 480-litre rear cargo compartment. The cabin also features 35 smart storage spaces, providing greater flexibility for daily essentials, family items, and pet accessories.

OMODA | JAECOO Malaysia’s decision to introduce the JAECOO J5 EV at Oh My Meow! Expo 2026 reflects the brand’s effort to connect with consumers beyond conventional automotive events. As the first automotive brand to collaborate with a cat-focused exhibition in Malaysia, the showcase highlights the vehicle’s pet-friendly approach and lifestyle-oriented design.
