Proton has taken another significant step in expanding its electric vehicle footprint beyond Malaysia with the launch of the Proton e.MAS 5 in Singapore. Introduced through the company’s Singapore distributor, VINCAR Group, the new model becomes the second vehicle under the Proton e.MAS brand to enter the market, following the introduction of the Proton e.MAS 7 last year.
The launch represents an important milestone in Proton’s broader export strategy, reinforcing the national carmaker’s commitment to growing its presence in regional markets while showcasing Malaysian automotive innovation on an international stage.
According to Edmund Lim Meng Thong, Chief Executive Officer of Proton International Corporation, the expansion of the Proton e.MAS portfolio in Singapore highlights the company’s determination to strengthen its export business and demonstrates increasing confidence in Malaysian-made automotive products.
He noted that the positive response to the Proton e.MAS 7 provided a strong foundation for introducing a second EV model to Singapore. The move is also aligned with Proton’s long-term objective of increasing export volumes while offering customers vehicles that combine advanced technology, strong safety credentials, and competitive value.
Singapore is widely regarded as one of Southeast Asia’s most demanding automotive markets, with consumers placing high expectations on quality, technology, and ownership experience. Successfully expanding the Proton e.MAS lineup in such an environment reflects Proton’s growing ability to compete in mature EV markets and further elevates the brand’s regional profile.
Beyond contributing to Malaysia’s transition toward sustainable mobility, the Proton e.MAS brand has become a central pillar of Proton’s international growth plans. The company views its EV range as an opportunity to introduce Malaysian-developed mobility solutions to new markets while building long-term partnerships and customer trust across the region.
Proton’s ambitions extend beyond vehicle exports alone. The company aims to establish a sustainable regional business ecosystem supported by strong distributor networks, customer-focused ownership experiences, and products tailored to the needs of individual markets. Each successful market entry strengthens Proton’s global standing while supporting Malaysia’s aspirations to become a recognised player in the future mobility sector.
The Proton e.MAS 5 arrives in Singapore with an already impressive track record. Together with its Geely counterpart, the model has achieved cumulative global sales of more than 610,000 units, highlighting its broad international appeal and proven market acceptance. In Malaysia, the Proton e.MAS 5 has also emerged as the country’s best-selling electric vehicle, further demonstrating the strength of its product offering.
Singaporean customers purchasing the Proton e.MAS 5 will benefit from an attractive ownership package that includes charging credits, ownership incentives worth S$5,000, zero downpayment options, a 10-year battery warranty, cross-border warranty coverage, and complimentary Malaysia-Singapore data roaming.
With the addition of the Proton e.MAS 5 to its Singapore lineup, Proton continues to build momentum for its EV business while reinforcing its position as an emerging regional player in the rapidly evolving electric mobility landscape.
