Petronas Lubricants International (PLI) has unveiled the latest generation of its Petronas Syntium engine oil range, introducing advanced formulations that comply with the newest API SQ and ILSAC GF-7 industry standards. The launch forms part of a phased global rollout aimed at delivering enhanced engine protection, improved fuel economy, and greater performance for modern vehicles.

Drawing on decades of experience in Formula One and leveraging its proprietary Fluid Technology Solutions™ expertise, Petronas has developed the new Syntium portfolio to bring motorsport-inspired innovation to everyday driving. Rather than offering a one-size-fits-all lubricant, the company has created a range of specialised products tailored to the varying needs of today’s motorists and evolving vehicle technologies.

The refreshed Petronas Syntium line-up consists of four dedicated variants, each designed to address specific engine requirements and driving conditions.

Leading the range is the Petronas Syntium Supreme, formulated for high-performance vehicles. Equipped with the brand’s CoolTech+™ technology, the lubricant is engineered to reduce engine wear while delivering fuel-efficiency gains of up to 13 per cent under industry-standard testing conditions.

For owners of Japanese vehicles, Petronas has introduced the Syntium Supreme GLV2. Developed specifically to meet the demands of Japanese engines, the oil carries JASO GLV-2 approvals and offers enhanced shear stability along with fuel-efficiency improvements of up to 19 per cent, based on real-world testing over a 12,000-kilometre evaluation period.

Meanwhile, the Petronas Syntium Prime caters to everyday motorists seeking dependable long-term engine protection. Featuring Active Defense™ technology, the lubricant is designed to maintain consistent performance across a wide range of daily driving situations, helping to ensure smooth and worry-free operation.

Recognising the growing adoption of electrified mobility, Petronas has also introduced the Syntium Hybrid. Specifically engineered for hybrid powertrains, it incorporates CoolTech-H™ technology to provide targeted protection against the unique stresses associated with frequent stop-start operation and lower engine operating temperatures.

According to Noorhana Abdul Habib, Regional Managing Director Asia for Petronas Lubricants International, the new Syntium range represents a significant milestone in lubricant innovation.

“The new Petronas Syntium range marks a defining step in advancing lubricant innovation, delivering uncompromising quality solutions to workshops and motorists across Malaysia and Asia. Powered by next-generation formulations aligned with the latest API SQ standard, it enhances fuel efficiency and engine performance, empowering motorists with cutting-edge technology that delivers excellence in every drive,” she said.

The all-new Petronas Syntium range has already been introduced in Malaysia, Japan and selected European markets. Petronas plans to expand availability across key Asia-Pacific countries throughout the year, with motorists in markets such as China, Indonesia and Thailand expected to gain access to the new products through Petronas AutoExpert centres and authorised workshop networks by the end of 2026.
