As Malaysia’s electric vehicle (EV) market continues to gain momentum, Zeekr Intelligent Technology Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. (Zeekr Malaysia) has taken a significant step toward strengthening the country’s charging infrastructure through a new partnership with Handal Green Mobility Sdn. Bhd. (DC Handal).

The two companies recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) aimed at expanding the availability of Zeekr Power charging facilities nationwide, enhancing convenience and accessibility for the growing community of Zeekr owners in Malaysia. The collaboration is expected to benefit more than 4,000 Zeekr customers while supporting broader EV adoption across the country.

The partnership forms part of Zeekr Malaysia’s long-term strategy to deliver a comprehensive ownership experience that extends beyond vehicle sales. By integrating premium charging solutions into its ecosystem, the company aims to provide customers with greater confidence and convenience whether travelling within cities or embarking on long-distance journeys.

Under the initial phase of the collaboration, Zeekr Malaysia and DC Handal will establish seven charging stations along key routes on the North–South Expressway. Each location will feature at least two charging points with a minimum charging output of 120kW. These stations will be supported by DC Handal’s advanced charging infrastructure, capable of delivering up to 400kW of power, with selected chargers potentially supporting up to 640kW in the future thanks to their 1.2MW capacity.

The development is expected to significantly improve charging accessibility for EV users travelling across Peninsular Malaysia, reducing range anxiety and making long-distance EV travel more practical.

DC Handal was selected as a strategic partner due to its rapidly expanding network and strong presence along critical travel corridors. The company currently operates approximately 250 charging points across both Peninsular and East Malaysia, making it one of the country’s key charging infrastructure providers.

According to DC Handal Chief Technical Officer Esa Fawsal Salleh, the collaboration supports Malaysia’s sustainable mobility ambitions while enabling the company to deliver faster and more seamless charging experiences to EV users nationwide.

For Zeekr Malaysia, the partnership represents an important milestone in the development of its local charging ecosystem. General Manager Eddy Lu highlighted that the company’s vision is to provide a holistic ownership journey that combines premium vehicles with reliable infrastructure and digital services. Expanding access to strategically located charging facilities, he noted, is essential to ensuring a seamless electric mobility experience for customers.

The initiative also reflects Zeekr’s global expertise in charging technology. Through its Zeekr Power division, the company has built the largest automaker-led ultra-fast charging network in China, operating hundreds of 800V ultra-fast charging stations and thousands of charging points across 183 cities. The network is further integrated with over one million third-party public chargers, delivering comprehensive nationwide coverage.

Zeekr Power continues to push charging technology forward with the introduction of its next-generation V4 charger, recognised as the world’s first 1.2MW ultra-fast charging solution and a key step toward the emerging megawatt charging era.

Beyond improving charging convenience for existing customers, the collaboration between Zeekr Malaysia and DC Handal is expected to contribute to Malaysia’s broader transition toward cleaner and more sustainable transportation. By combining premium EV offerings with an expanding high-speed charging network, both companies aim to strengthen consumer confidence in electric mobility and accelerate the development of the nation’s EV ecosystem.

The MOU was signed by Loh Yan Teng, Head of Product at Zeekr Malaysia, and Esa Fawsal Salleh, Chief Technical Officer of DC Handal, in the presence of Zeekr Malaysia General Manager Eddy Lu and DC Handal representative Lim Kok Keong.

As EV adoption continues to rise, partnerships such as this will play an increasingly important role in ensuring that charging infrastructure keeps pace with demand, helping to pave the way for a more connected, accessible, and sustainable future for Malaysian motorists.
