TQ WULING has expanded its electric vehicle line-up in Malaysia with the launch of the all-new Porta EV, a fully electric panel van designed to help businesses reduce operating costs while improving efficiency across their daily commercial operations. Available in two variants offering CLTC-rated driving ranges of 300km and 400km, the Porta EV is aimed at a wide range of commercial users, including logistics companies, retailers, fleet operators, multinational corporations and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
Prices start from an estimated RM99,800 for the 300km variant, while the 400km version is priced at RM105,800. With its combination of cargo space, payload capacity, fast-charging capability and potentially lower maintenance expenses, TQ WULING is positioning the Porta EV as a practical alternative to conventional diesel-powered vans. “For businesses, a commercial vehicle is ultimately a working asset. It needs to be capable, dependable and economical to operate day after day. That thinking has shaped the Porta EV,” said Wan Wei Sun, Head of Business at TQ Manufacturing Sdn Bhd. He added that the company aims to make the transition to electric commercial mobility practical and commercially viable, with the promise of being “Built to earn, designed to save.”
As a full-size panel van, the Porta EV measures 5,010mm long and 1,800mm wide, with a wheelbase of 3,050mm. The 400km variant stands 1,975mm tall, while the 300km version has a height of 1,960mm. Its cargo compartment measures 2,830mm in length, 1,680mm in width and 1,365mm in height, providing up to 6.5 cubic metres of storage space for deliveries, goods transportation and other commercial applications.
Practicality is a key part of the package. The van features dual sliding side doors with a 777mm opening width, alongside rear barn doors capable of opening up to 270 degrees. A loading height of just 595mm is intended to make loading and unloading less demanding during busy working days. The rear opening measures 1,366mm wide, allowing direct forklift access and accommodating a standard 1,100mm by 1,100mm pallet. This should prove particularly useful for businesses handling frequent deliveries or transporting palletised goods.
For heavier loads, the 400km variant offers a maximum payload of up to 1,105kg. Its monocoque body also incorporates ultra-high-strength steel, which accounts for 83% of the body structure according to the manufacturer.
Powering the Porta EV is a 75kW silicon-carbide (SiC) electric motor producing 180Nm of torque. The electric drivetrain delivers torque immediately, making it well suited to stop-start urban traffic, frequent deliveries and low-speed manoeuvring around commercial premises. Energy is supplied by WULING’s MAGIC EV Battery technology, which has been developed with an emphasis on structural strength, thermal protection and durability.
According to TQ WULING, the battery has undergone safety testing involving high temperatures, punctures, impacts, vibration and water immersion. Its unitised structural design increases battery structural strength by more than 60%, while its modular construction allows individual battery cells to be serviced or replaced when necessary. The company claims this approach can reduce battery repair and maintenance costs by up to 90% over the vehicle’s lifecycle. WULING also states that its MAGIC Battery technology has been deployed in more than three million new-energy vehicles globally, with no reported battery fire or explosion incidents across that fleet.
The Porta EV supports both AC charging and DC fast charging, allowing operators to select a charging routine that suits their business schedules. The 400km variant can charge from 30% to 80% in approximately 20 minutes using DC fast charging, while an AC charge from 20% to 80% takes around 6.75 hours. For the 300km variant, the corresponding charging times are approximately 30 minutes using DC fast charging and 5.15 hours using AC charging.
These charging options allow businesses to recharge vehicles overnight at their depots or top up the battery during breaks between delivery runs. Actual charging times will depend on the charging equipment, available power supply and operating conditions. The quoted driving ranges are based on the China Light-Duty Vehicle Test Cycle (CLTC), so real-world range will vary according to factors such as load, traffic, driving style and air-conditioning usage.
Commercial vehicles often spend extended periods on the road, making driver safety and comfort important considerations. The Porta EV comes equipped with dual front airbags, an Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and traction control. Hill Start Assist is included to help prevent the vehicle from rolling backwards on inclines, while a low-speed pedestrian alarm alerts nearby road users to the presence of the electric van. A reverse camera and rear parking sensors assist with manoeuvring, and an immobiliser provides an additional anti-theft measure.
Inside, the cabin features a 3.5-inch TFT instrument display, four-way adjustable seats and electronically adjustable air-conditioning controls. An 8-inch infotainment system with Bluetooth, MP3 and USB connectivity rounds out the equipment list.
For businesses evaluating commercial vehicles, the initial purchase price is only one part of the financial equation. Fuel, servicing, repairs and vehicle downtime can all influence the total cost of ownership over several years. TQ WULING says the Porta EV requires scheduled servicing every six months or 10,000km, whichever comes first, with routine servicing costs amounting to less than RM2,000 over five years. The manufacturer estimates that this could translate into savings of more than 65% compared with conventional diesel vans.
For businesses operating multiple vehicles, predictable servicing expenses and scheduled maintenance can also make it easier to plan fleet budgets and manage vehicle availability. However, actual savings will depend on individual operating conditions, including annual mileage, electricity and diesel prices, charging arrangements and maintenance requirements.
To support businesses making the switch to electric commercial transport, the Porta EV comes with several layers of warranty coverage. The vehicle is covered for five years or 120,000km, whichever comes first. The drive motor, EV battery and battery management system (BMS) receive coverage for five years or 200,000km, while the EV battery cells are covered for six years or 300,000km.
After-sales support is provided through the Tan Chong Ekspress Auto Servis (TCEAS) network, which has 28 service centres nationwide trained to service TQ WULING vehicles. The network covers key locations across Peninsular Malaysia, including the Central, Northern, Southern and East Coast regions, as well as East Malaysia. This coverage is particularly relevant for fleet operators that require accessible maintenance support across multiple operating locations.
Bookings for both Porta EV variants are now open through the official TQ WULING website at tqwuling.my or at TQ WULING showrooms nationwide. A booking fee of RM500 is required. As part of its launch promotion, TQ WULING is offering an early-bird package comprising a complimentary 7kW EV wallbox charger worth RM3,500, a free three-pin portable EV charger and scheduled maintenance at no charge for up to 60,000km or three years.
The package is intended to reduce some of the upfront costs associated with adopting an electric commercial vehicle, while helping businesses establish their charging and maintenance arrangements from the beginning. Prospective buyers can also view the Porta EV at selected TQ WULING showrooms on 17 and 18 October 2026. A list of participating locations is available on the company’s official website.
