The 2026 Proton S70 i-GT 1.5 is gaining traction in East Malaysia, recording more than 2,000 bookings across Sabah and Sarawak since orders opened on 7 September 2026. The encouraging response highlights continued interest in Proton’s expanded sedan lineup, with Sarawak contributing more than 1,000 bookings to the regional total.

To build on this momentum, Proton brought the S70 i-GT 1.5 closer to customers in Sarawak through a three-day roadshow at Vivacity Megamall in Kuching, running from 9 to 11 October 2026. The event gives visitors an opportunity to explore the latest sedan, speak with sales advisors and experience its driving characteristics through test drives. The Sarawak showcase follows the model’s official launch in Peninsular Malaysia on 22 September and its introduction in Sabah on 3 October, extending Proton’s efforts to introduce the latest S70 variant to customers nationwide.

The S70 i-GT 1.5’s booking performance comes amid Proton’s growing presence in Sarawak. The company’s sales in the state have increased from 4,270 units in 2018 to 9,870 units in 2026, representing a substantial 131% rise. To support this expanding customer base, Proton has established an aftersales network comprising 16 authorised service centres across Sarawak. These facilities provide maintenance and repair services through trained service advisors and technicians, with genuine Proton parts available to support long-term vehicle ownership.

Parts availability is further supported by Proton’s Regional Parts Centre in Kuching, helping service outlets obtain the components required to meet customer needs. The company says these initiatives form part of its Faster & Better Aftersales Commitment, which aims to improve service efficiency, technical capabilities and the overall ownership experience.

Dato’ Ir Abdul Rashid Musa, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Proton, said the response to the S70 i-GT 1.5 across East Malaysia has been encouraging, reflecting the appeal of a sedan that combines space, comfort, convenience and safety in a well-equipped package. He added that the Sarawak roadshow allows the company to engage directly with customers and demonstrate the model’s features and driving performance, while reinforcing its commitment to reliable aftersales support throughout the ownership journey.

Priced from RM58,800 in East Malaysia, the 2026 Proton S70 i-GT 1.5 is offered in Lite and Prime variants. Both are powered by a naturally aspirated 1.5-litre i-GT engine paired with a continuously variable transmission (CVT) and torque converter. Proton has equipped the sedan with 10 class-leading features spanning cabin comfort, convenience, connectivity and safety, aiming to make everyday driving more practical for a wide range of motorists.

Among the highlights are an electric parking brake with Auto Brake Hold, key remote engine start, one-touch power windows with Auto Up/Down and Anti-Trap functions, five USB ports and a reverse camera. Both variants also feature an extensive soft-touch instrument panel, adding to the cabin’s overall sense of refinement. Connectivity is another key addition, with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto scheduled to be available from October 2026, offering drivers more convenient access to compatible smartphone functions.

Safety equipment includes a five-function Rear Side Radar System that integrates Blind Spot Detection, Lane Change Assist, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Door Opening Warning and Rear Collision Warning. A reverse camera and Rear Seat Reminder are also standard on both variants. Beyond its equipment list, Proton has subjected the S70 i-GT 1.5 powertrain to an extensive validation programme. Testing included more than 5,400 hours on a dynamometer and over 412,000 kilometres of road testing, supporting the company’s efforts to ensure durability, reliability and refinement under everyday driving conditions.

Visitors to the Vivacity Megamall roadshow can view the sedan up close, consult Proton’s sales advisors and register for a test drive, subject to availability. The event also features Follow, Share & Reward and Test Drive & Reward activities. Eligible participants may receive a surprise gift after completing the required steps and verification, subject to the applicable terms and conditions. The roadshow runs daily from 10am to 10pm, with further information available from the on-site sales team or the nearest authorised Proton outlet.
