KDEB Waste Management (KDEBWM) has partnered with Caltex Malaysia to introduce a more structured approach to fuel management for vehicles involved in Selangor’s domestic waste collection and public cleansing operations. Under the strategic partnership, KDEBWM-appointed subcontractors will be able to use Caltex StarCard fleet cards to purchase fuel for compactor trucks and Armroll/RORO trucks at participating Caltex service stations.

Each StarCard is linked to the registration number of its assigned vehicle, allowing fuel purchases to be more easily monitored while providing KDEBWM and its subcontractors with greater visibility over fleet-related expenditure. The arrangement is designed to simplify the day-to-day management of fuel expenses, while strengthening accountability across the fleet. Purchase limits can also be established for individual cards, with transaction records and account statements maintained according to the agreed terms and conditions. Caltex Malaysia said its StarCard platform provides businesses with digital tools to manage fleet expenses through both mobile and web platforms.

“We are honoured to be a strategic partner to KDEBWM and believe our Caltex Starcard fleet card will provide a much more streamlined process across the organisation in tracking fleet management needs with greater control, convenience and security,” said Leong Jee Wong, Country Chairman of Caltex Malaysia. He added that the StarCard system enables businesses to monitor expenses, generate reports and adjust fleet spending, while security features such as PIN activation and fraudulent-activity detection through StarCard Online provide additional safeguards.

For KDEBWM, the partnership supports its broader efforts to ensure its appointed subcontractors can maintain efficient and reliable waste collection and public cleansing operations throughout Selangor. With fleet vehicles playing a critical role in keeping residential areas and public spaces clean, having tighter control over fuel usage and expenditure can help simplify operational management behind the scenes. The collaboration between KDEBWM and Caltex Malaysia therefore brings a digital layer to an essential part of Selangor’s waste management ecosystem — helping subcontractors keep their vehicles moving while KDEBWM continues its mission to keep the state clean.
