Perodua is venturing further into the financial services space through a new strategic partnership with Bank Rakyat, introducing the Perodua-Bank Rakyat Credit Card-i with benefits tailored specifically towards motorists. The collaboration combines Perodua’s automotive ecosystem with Bank Rakyat’s Islamic banking expertise, giving vehicle owners another way to earn rewards from some of their most common automotive-related expenses.
One of the main highlights of the new Credit Card-i is its five-times reward points for spending on fuel, electric vehicle (EV) charging, vehicle maintenance and takaful protection. The accumulated rewards can also be conveniently converted and redeemed through the Perodua P-Circle mobile app, bringing the financial product closer to Perodua’s wider ownership ecosystem.
Beyond automotive spending, the card comes with several other benefits. Cardholders will enjoy zero overseas transaction fees and no annual fee, while complimentary takaful coverage is provided for total outstanding balances of up to RM300,000, subject to the applicable terms and up to the age of 70. There is also a RM1,000 Khairat Kematian (Bereavement Benefit) included with the card.
Adding a bit of Perodua character to the new financial product, the Credit Card-i is available in two exclusive designs inspired by the Perodua QV-E and TIRA, the character featured in the animation film on the P-Circle mobile app.
Perodua President and Chief Executive Officer, Dato’ Sri Zainal Abidin Ahmad, described the partnership as an important milestone for the company, as this marks Perodua’s first collaboration with a banking institution to introduce a Credit Card-i. He added that Perodua will also be running a special campaign encouraging customers to apply for the card, with exclusive Perodua Package offers available as part of the initiative.
For Bank Rakyat, the partnership represents an opportunity to combine Islamic banking with the automotive sector to create a more integrated customer ecosystem. Bank Rakyat Group Chief Executive Officer, Ahmad Shahril Mohd Shariff, said the collaboration reflects the bank’s approach towards providing more comprehensive value and rewards by bringing together the strengths of both industries. The initiative is also aligned with Bank Rakyat’s “For All” aspiration, which aims to expand access to inclusive and relevant financial solutions across different segments of the community.
For Perodua owners, the new Credit Card-i essentially brings together several everyday motoring expenses under one rewards programme, while adding additional financial and takaful benefits along the way.
