Tesla has strengthened its regional charging network with the opening of a new V4 Supercharging station at AEON Mall Kinta City in Ipoh, Perak, completing a key missing link for cross-border EV travel between Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand. The new facility is Tesla’s first Supercharging station in Malaysia with connectivity powered by Starlink. Its strategic location in the heart of Perak gives Tesla owners a convenient stopping point while travelling north or south through the country, effectively connecting the existing Supercharger network into a more seamless regional route.

Interestingly, the Ipoh location was selected as the Tesla community’s top-voted charging site, highlighting the role of owner feedback in the company’s continued charging network expansion. Beyond adding another charging point, Tesla says the new station forms part of a broader effort to improve the cross-border ownership experience. Tesla owners travelling throughout the region can benefit from cross-border warranty coverage, service access and connectivity, giving them greater confidence when taking their vehicles across national borders.

The V4 Superchargers are capable of delivering charging rates of up to 250 kW. For the Model 3 and Model Y, Tesla says the system can add up to approximately 311 km of range in as little as 15 minutes, depending on factors such as charging conditions and vehicle state. To mark the opening, Tesla is offering complimentary Supercharging at the AEON Mall Kinta City station from August 21 to 23, 2026.

With a pay-per-use model, Tesla says its Supercharging network continues to offer a cost-efficient fast-charging solution. The company now operates 21 Supercharging stations with a total of 92 Superchargers across Malaysia, alongside 18 Destination Charging locations equipped with 78 chargers.

Tesla is also highlighting the role of Grok, its AI assistant that comes standard in every Tesla. The system can assist with navigation and route planning, climate and ventilation controls, music playback, reminders, finding locations and controlling various vehicle functions. Owners can also use Grok to navigate to Tesla Supercharging stations and access local recommendations.

For Malaysian buyers, Tesla currently offers the Model 3 from RM149,000 and the Model Y from RM198,000. Under a limited-time promotion, customers can also receive 3,000 km of Supercharging credits. The Model Y Premium RWD is available with a choice between a RM13,000 trade-in rebate or a low-interest programme with a fixed rate starting from 0.88%, although the two incentives cannot be combined.

Meanwhile, Tesla has added the Model Y to its Refer and Earn programme. Existing Tesla owners can share their personal referral links with friends and family and receive Tesla credits when a qualifying purchase is completed. The rewards can be redeemed for items such as Supercharging credits and software upgrades. For the first 10 successful referrals involving a new Tesla purchase through a referral link, the new customer will receive RM1,000 off a Model 3 or Model Y, while the referring Tesla owner will receive RM500 in Tesla credits for each successful referral.
