The SKILLDRVN OMR 2026 Season 4 championship continued its momentum at the Petronas Sepang International Circuit, where Round 2 produced another weekend of closely fought racing, unpredictable weather conditions, and standout performances across both the Pro Series and OMR Series categories.
Featuring 10 identically prepared Suzuki Swift race cars, the One Make Race (OMR) format once again highlighted driver skill, consistency, and racecraft as the key ingredients for success. As the series progresses, it continues to serve as an important platform for developing grassroots motorsport talent in Malaysia while providing aspiring racers with a competitive yet accessible environment.
The weekend began with an intense qualifying session as drivers battled for the best possible starting positions. Adding another layer of challenge was the championship’s success ballast system, which applies additional weight to the top performers from the previous round. Round 1 winners Loke Yin Yi (#331) and Imran Iskandar (#512) carried 15kg of ballast, while Vox Lim (#168) and Rafin Ghaith Danial (#704) competed with an extra 10kg. Andy Boey (#27) entered the session with 5kg of additional weight.
Despite the handicap, Loke Yin Yi showed impressive pace in the Pro Series. She controlled the session from the front and resisted pressure from Vox Lim and Andy Boey. While Andy briefly challenged for the leading positions, a technical issue later dropped him down the order. Loke secured the fastest time ahead of Vox Lim, with XiaoLong (#888) completing the top three.
The OMR Series saw Imran Iskandar continue his strong form. The Team Ultra Racing driver led throughout qualifying to secure pole position, ahead of Chee Fong (#791) and Rafin Ghaith Danial.
Race 1 began with a rolling start, setting up an eight-lap sprint around Sepang. In the Pro Series, Loke Yin Yi converted pole position into an early lead and quickly established control of the race. Behind her, Vox Lim, Andy Boey, and XiaoLong engaged in a competitive battle for podium positions.
The fight intensified in the middle stages when Vox Lim successfully moved past Andy Boey for second place. Andy’s challenge was later derailed by technical problems, allowing XiaoLong to inherit third position.
At the front, Loke remained unchallenged and crossed the finish line to secure another victory. Vox Lim followed in second place, while XiaoLong completed the podium.
The OMR Series produced a similarly dominant display from Imran Iskandar. After leading from the start, he maintained a comfortable advantage throughout the race. Chee Fong remained his closest rival but was unable to close the gap, while Rafin Ghaith Danial secured third place after a consistent drive.
The second race of the weekend introduced a new challenge as drivers lined up for the season’s first wet standing start. Although the rain had eased before the start, damp track conditions created a slippery and constantly evolving racing surface.
When the lights went out, Loke Yin Yi, XiaoLong, and Imran Iskandar all launched strongly and immediately separated themselves from the rest of the field. Loke quickly established a lead, while Imran demonstrated remarkable consistency in difficult conditions and stayed within striking distance of the overall race leader.
A fierce battle developed behind Loke. Vox Lim initially held second place but came under pressure from XiaoLong. On Lap 5, XiaoLong completed an overtake at Turn 1 to move into second. Vox later responded by reclaiming the position on Lap 8 as the circuit continued to dry.
However, the race took a dramatic turn when Vox Lim suffered technical issues and was forced to retire on Lap 9 while chasing the leader. Elsewhere, Joshua Lee (#62) recovered after an off-track excursion, while Elwen Lau (#42) saw his race end prematurely following a mechanical failure.
In the OMR Series, Imran Iskandar once again delivered a composed performance. Recording the fastest lap of the race with a time of 3:02.083, he controlled proceedings despite sustained pressure from Rafin Ghaith Danial during the latter stages. With a comfortable gap in hand, Imran secured another victory to maintain his strong championship form.
Round 2 demonstrated why the SKILLDRVN OMR Championship continues to gain recognition within Malaysia’s grassroots motorsport scene. The combination of close racing, changing weather conditions, and competitive driver line-ups produced another entertaining weekend at Sepang.
Loke Yin Yi and Imran Iskandar emerged as the standout performers, both extending their strong starts to the season with commanding victories. However, the battles throughout the field suggested that the championship remains far from settled, with several drivers showing the pace to challenge for honours as the season progresses.
Beyond the racing itself, the championship continues to play an important role in nurturing local talent and providing a pathway for aspiring racers. Supported by partners including ELF, Bendix, Profimax, Ultra Racing, Lifestyle Motorsports, ZX1, Senarco Oil, KJ Brake Performance, and Giti, the series remains committed to strengthening Malaysia’s motorsport ecosystem.
With two rounds completed and the title fight becoming increasingly competitive, attention now shifts to the next chapter of the season. As rivalries continue to develop and every point becomes more valuable, the battle for the 2026 SKILLDRVN OMR Season 4 championship is only beginning.
