The 2026 BYD ATTO 3 has made an impressive start in Malaysia, securing more than 1,000 bookings within just 10 days of its launch. The achievement marks a remarkable repeat of history for BYD Sime Motors, the official distributor of BYD vehicles in Malaysia, as the original BYD ATTO 3 reached the same milestone when it was first introduced to the local market in 2022.
The strong response highlights the continued popularity of the BYD ATTO 3 among Malaysian consumers and reinforces its status as one of the nation’s most successful electric vehicles. The latest model was unveiled during the Sime Motors MotorExpo 2026, with Malaysia becoming the first market in the Asia-Pacific region to launch the 2026 version of the SUV.
Carrying the tagline “Faster, Further, Smarter,” the new BYD ATTO 3 has attracted considerable attention thanks to a range of significant upgrades. Among the key highlights is the premium Rear-Wheel Drive variant, capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.5 seconds. The model also offers faster charging speeds of up to 220 kW, a driving range of up to 600 kilometres, and an expanded suite of intelligent safety and connectivity technologies designed to enhance everyday driving.
The early booking figures reflect growing confidence in electric mobility among Malaysian motorists, particularly for vehicles that combine practicality, innovation and value. The momentum also builds on the impressive legacy of the BYD ATTO 3, which remains Malaysia’s best-selling electric vehicle of all time, with more than 12,000 units delivered nationwide. This success has further strengthened BYD’s position as the country’s leading EV brand.
To commemorate the milestone, BYD Sime Motors hosted a special celebration at its BYD Bandar Utama showroom, where the 1,000th customer was recognised. The occasion echoed the landmark achievement recorded during the model’s original launch in 2022, symbolising the enduring appeal of the ATTO 3 among Malaysian buyers.
Jacob Ma, Managing Director of BYD Malaysia, described the achievement as a reflection of changing consumer expectations in the automotive market. He noted that Malaysian drivers are increasingly seeking vehicles that seamlessly blend advanced technology, convenience and everyday usability, qualities that the 2026 BYD ATTO 3 is designed to deliver.
