The Mercedes Benz E-Class has been one of the best-selling car that Mercedes-Benz Malaysia (MBM) sells in Malaysia. Recently, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia launch the updated Mercedes-Benz E-Class.

The updated E-Class will be available in E200 Avantgarde Line and E300 AMG Line variant, and both cars will be locally assembled in Malaysia. The E200 Avantgarde Line will be priced at RM 326,943.19, and the E300 AMG Line will be priced at RM 375,432.19.

Exterior

With a new styling, the updated E-Class now looks more refreshing and modern look to it. On the E200 Avantgarde, it will feature a sleek new grille with newly-designed LED high performance headlamps and tail lights, bonnet with a pronounced power domes, and complemented with 18-inch 5-twin spoke light alloy wheels. While at the rear, a new bumper, split tail lamps and a new boot lid completes the looks.

As for the E300 AMG Line, it will feature a new bumper in the style of the AMG Performance model and 19-inch AMG 5-twin-spoke light-alloy wheels. The headlights on the E300 AMG Line has been upgraded to the MULTIBEAM LED headlamps now includes ULTRA RANGE high beam. The rear will be similar to the E200 Avantgarde. With the new car, there will be two new paint colours, grey metallic and high-tech silver available for the E-Class as part of the model refresh.

Interior

For the E200 Avantgarde, it comes with a longitudinal-grain aluminium trim on the dashboard. The seats in the E200 will be will be wrapped in the ARTICO man-made leather. On the other hand, the E300 AMG Line will get open-pore black ash wood trim on the dashboard, and genuine leather for the seats.

The latest generation MBUX multimedia system (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) will be display beside the instrument cluster on 2 large 12.3 inch displays. The information in the instrument cluster and on the media display are shown on the two displays are clear and easy to read as the screens are high-resolution screens.

Safety

To start, the updated E-Class will feature a new steering wheel that has the ability to cooperative support the driver semi-autonomous driver assistant was activated. The new steering wheel will detect the hands of the driver on a capacitive basis, which uses a pad with the appropriate sensors in the rim. If the system does not detect the driver’s hands, it will activates Emergency Brake Assist to bring the car to a stop.

As standard the updated E-Class will come with Active Brake Assist on top of the regular passive safety systems. The E300 AMG will feature even more safety system such as Active Parking Assist with Parktronic, 360° camera, Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC, Active Steering Assist, Active Brake Assist, Active Lane Keeping Assist, Active Blind Spot Assist and PRE-SAFE® PLUS.

Powertrain

Both E200 Avantgarde and E300 AMG Line will be powered by the same 2.0L 4 cylinder engine. On the E200 Avantgarde, it will produce around 197bhp and 320Nm of torque, which has the ability to push the car from 0-100km/h in 7.4 seconds and a top speed of 240km/h. For the E300 AMG Line, the performance on the engine has been increase to 258bhp and 370Nm of torque. This allow the E300 AMG Line to hit the 100km/h mark in 6.2 seconds and top out at 250 km/h.
