Mercedes-AMG is turning up the performance dial in Malaysia with the arrival of the new Mercedes-AMG GT 63 PRO 4MATIC+ Coupé, while simultaneously offering a first glimpse of the all-new Mercedes-AMG GT 63 4-Door Coupé as Formula 1® makes its return to the country. The two models showcase two very different interpretations of AMG performance. The GT 63 PRO remains unapologetically focused on the combustion-powered sports car experience, while the forthcoming GT 63 4-Door Coupé points towards an electric future built around AMG’s new performance technology.

At the heart of the GT 63 PRO is AMG’s familiar 4.0-litre V8 biturbo engine, but this version has been given an extra performance boost. It produces 450 kW (612 hp) and 850 Nm of torque, representing an additional 20 kW (27 hp) and 50 Nm over the regular AMG GT 63. Power is channelled through the AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 9G transmission and sent to all four wheels through AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive. The result is a 0-100 km/h sprint in just 3.2 seconds, while 0-200 km/h takes only 10.9 seconds. Top speed is rated at 317 km/h.

However, the GT 63 PRO’s upgrades go well beyond simply extracting more power from its V8. Mercedes-AMG has significantly expanded the car’s cooling system to cope with the demands of sustained high-performance driving. Two additional radiators have been positioned in the front wheel arches, while the differentials on both axles and the transfer case receive active cooling. Electrically operated water pumps help circulate coolant through the relevant circuits, allowing heat to be continuously carried away during demanding track sessions.

The braking system has also been engineered with circuit use in mind. An AMG ceramic high-performance composite brake system uses six-piston fixed callipers at the front and one-piston floating callipers at the rear, with 420 mm discs on the front axle. The system reduces unsprung mass while offering improved resistance to brake fade, durability and response during repeated heavy braking.

The GT 63 PRO also benefits from an extensively revised aerodynamic package designed to improve stability at speed without compromising its visual drama. The redesigned front apron incorporates visible carbon-fibre air deflectors around the enlarged side air intakes, while an active aerodynamic profile underneath the car works together with the AIRPANEL active air control system. At the rear, a fixed AMG aerodynamic wing generates additional downforce.

According to Mercedes-AMG, these changes reduce aerodynamic lift on the front axle by more than 30 kg. Additional underbody fins, inspired by those used on the Mercedes-AMG ONE, accelerate airflow beneath the car, while the rear wing increases rear-axle downforce by around 15 kg. The objective is straightforward: give the driver sharper steering behaviour and greater confidence when pushing the car harder through corners.

The motorsport theme continues inside, where the GT 63 PRO receives AMG Performance seats finished in Nappa leather and MICROCUT microfibre, together with an AMG Performance steering wheel in carbon-fibre design and MICROCUT microfibre. Carbon-fibre trim, a black MICROCUT roof liner and yellow seat belts add further visual drama. The cockpit combines a 12.3-inch driver display with an 11.9-inch central MBUX display, complemented by a head-up display and MBUX Augmented Reality navigation.

For owners who intend to take their GT 63 PRO onto a circuit, AMG TRACK PACE acts as a virtual race engineer, providing detailed information on lap times, sector times and acceleration performance. Yet this remains a road-going GT, and Mercedes-AMG has not forgotten everyday comfort. Equipment includes the ENERGIZING Package, THERMOTRONIC automatic climate control, ENERGIZING AIR CONTROL and an 11-speaker Burmester® surround sound system.

Outside, 21-inch AMG cross-spoke forged wheels, black-painted brake callipers and the AMG Night Package II give the GT 63 PRO an even more aggressive appearance. The AMG Exterior Carbon Fibre package adds carbon-fibre components to the front splitter, side sills, diffuser and fixed rear wing.

For collectors looking for something considerably rarer, Mercedes-AMG is also offering the Motorsport Collectors Edition, limited to only 200 units worldwide. Based on the GT 63 PRO, the special edition takes inspiration from contemporary Formula One® racing liveries. Its obsidian black exterior features an exclusive Mercedes-Benz Star Pattern, complemented by PETRONAS-coloured aerodynamic elements, brake callipers and detailing on the unique 21-inch AMG forged wheels.

The Formula 1-inspired treatment continues into the cabin with AMG Performance seats, carbon-fibre trim, PETRONAS-coloured contrasting stitching, a special centre-console badge and an edition-specific AMG Performance steering wheel. The specification also includes the Burmester® High-End 3D Surround Sound System and ENERGIZING PLUS Package, among other comfort and convenience features. In Malaysia, the GT 63 PRO 4MATIC+ Coupé is estimated to start from RM2,088,888, while the Motorsport Collectors Edition carries a price of RM2,588,888 for Peninsular Malaysia.

Alongside the V8-powered GT 63 PRO, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia has also provided a sneak preview of the all-new Mercedes-AMG GT 63 4-Door Coupé. While the GT 63 PRO represents the current pinnacle of AMG’s combustion-engine performance, the four-door model points towards the next chapter, using the new AMG.EA architecture. It features three axial-flux electric motors and an 800-volt electrical system, showcasing how AMG intends to translate its performance philosophy into the electric era.

Kevin Barbian, Chief Operating Officer of Mercedes-Benz Cars Malaysia, described the two models as demonstrating the breadth of what AMG can offer, from a V8-powered sports car engineered with the racetrack in mind to an electric performance model built around AMG.EA technology. Together, they provide a snapshot of where Mercedes-AMG stands today — with one foot firmly planted in the world of high-revving V8 performance, and the other already stepping into a new electric performance era. And with Formula 1® returning to Malaysia, there could hardly be a more appropriate backdrop for AMG to put both sides of its performance story on display.
