As Malaysia celebrated its 69th National Day, Zeekr Intelligent Technology Malaysia brought its Merdeka celebrations to the streets of Kuala Lumpur through its participation in the Malaysia Marathon 2026. The event took on added significance for Zeekr Malaysia as the brand approaches its second anniversary in the Malaysian market.

As the Title Sponsor of the marathon’s 10KM category, Zeekr used the occasion to bring together its growing community of owners, media partners and business associates, with more than 100 invited guests taking part alongside thousands of runners. Adding a distinctive automotive presence to the event, the Zeekr 7X served as the Official Timing and Lead Car, guiding participants along the route while showcasing the brand to runners and spectators throughout the city.

For Zeekr Malaysia, its involvement in the Malaysia Marathon went beyond conventional event sponsorship. The marathon provided an opportunity for the brand to celebrate National Day through a shared experience centred around community, sport and national pride. This approach closely reflected the spirit of this year’s National Day theme, “Malaysia MADANI: Kesejahteraan Dinikmati”, which highlights the aspiration for a progressive, inclusive and harmonious nation where the benefits of development and well-being can be enjoyed by all. By bringing Malaysians together through sport, the Malaysia Marathon provided a fitting platform for Zeekr to celebrate the sense of unity and belonging associated with Merdeka.

The partnership also allowed Zeekr Malaysia to support the country’s growing sports tourism landscape. Reintroduced as a major national initiative in conjunction with Visit Malaysia 2026, the Malaysia Marathon combines sport, tourism and culture, positioning the event as more than simply a competitive race. With a target of 25,000 participants from Malaysia and around the world, the marathon provides an international platform to showcase Kuala Lumpur and Malaysia as destinations capable of hosting major sporting events. For Zeekr, being part of this initiative offered another way for the brand to contribute to Malaysia’s wider tourism and sporting ambitions while engaging directly with the local community.

“Malaysia’s National Day is a meaningful occasion that brings people together in celebration of our shared identity, pride and the country we call home. As we approach our second year in Malaysia, we are proud of the journey we have shared with our customers, partners and the wider community, and we wanted to celebrate this special occasion in a way that brings our community closer,” said Eddy Lu, General Manager of Zeekr Intelligent Technology Malaysia. “Malaysia Marathon 2026 gave us a wonderful opportunity to do just that – by supporting an event that celebrates Malaysia through sport and brings people together. It was a meaningful celebration of the spirit of Merdeka and the country we are proud to be growing alongside,” he added.

Zeekr Malaysia extended its National Day celebrations beyond the marathon itself with a special vehicle convoy that departed from Pavilion Kuala Lumpur. The convoy brought a display of Merdeka spirit to the streets of the capital, while a dedicated vehicle display at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur provided another focal point for the celebrations.

Working with selected Zeekr owners, the brand showcased all three of its Malaysian models, each featuring specially designed Merdeka-themed decals. The display highlighted both Zeekr’s growing presence in Malaysia and the role of its owner community in the brand’s local journey.

As Zeekr Malaysia approaches its second year in the country, the brand says it will continue seeking opportunities to participate in occasions that bring Malaysians together, while building stronger connections with its customers, partners and the wider community. Its involvement in Malaysia Marathon 2026 therefore served as more than a branding exercise, combining Zeekr’s growing local presence with the values of community, sporting achievement and national pride that define the Merdeka celebration.
