Bermaz Xpeng Sdn Bhd, the official distributor of XPENG vehicles in Malaysia, has announced a recall campaign for selected units of the XPENG X9 following a voluntary recall initiated by XPENG in China. The recall affects certain X9 vehicles manufactured before 11 August 2025 and concerns a potential issue involving the vehicle’s front air springs. XPENG has confirmed that vehicles produced in other batches are not affected by the issue.
In Malaysia, Bermaz Xpeng says customer safety remains its highest priority and is working closely with XPENG, regional partners and the relevant authorities to ensure the recall can be carried out efficiently and with minimal disruption to affected owners. For vehicles confirmed to be affected, customers will receive a complimentary replacement of the complete front air suspension assembly. In addition, Bermaz Xpeng will extend the warranty coverage for the front air suspension system to eight years or 160,000km, whichever comes first.
The extended warranty will be calculated from the vehicle’s original registration date and will also be transferable to subsequent owners, providing additional reassurance for customers beyond the recall repair itself. Bermaz Xpeng is currently coordinating parts availability, technical procedures and service capacity with its partners to prepare for the implementation of the campaign. The company says these preparations are intended to ensure affected vehicles can be rectified in a timely and orderly manner.
Affected XPENG X9 owners can contact the XPENG Malaysia customer service hotline at +603 7627 3883 for further information or assistance. Customers may also use the XPENG mobile app to schedule an appointment with an XPENG Authorised Service Centre for the necessary inspection and rectification. Bermaz Xpeng said it will continue providing updates as preparations progress, with the recall campaign aimed at ensuring affected XPENG X9 vehicles in Malaysia receive the necessary corrective work and continued support.
