Perodua has expanded its international footprint with the export of its newest compact SUV, the Perodua Traz, to Sri Lanka, where it joins the popular Perodua Alza MPV as part of the brand’s growing product lineup in the country.

Sri Lanka continues to be one of Perodua’s most significant overseas markets. Since entering the country in 1997, the Malaysian automaker has delivered more than 20,000 vehicles to Sri Lankan customers, reflecting the brand’s long-standing popularity and reputation for value and reliability.

Perodua President and Chief Executive Officer, Dato’ Sri Zainal Abidin Ahmad, said the company currently exports completely built-up (CBU) vehicles to six international markets: Brunei, Fiji, Mauritius, Bangladesh, Papua New Guinea, and Sri Lanka.

He added that Perodua is also broadening its export strategy beyond new vehicles by introducing its certified pre-owned vehicle programme to overseas markets. Timor-Leste became the latest destination to receive Perodua pre-owned vehicles this year, marking another milestone in the company’s regional expansion plans.

To celebrate the launch of the Traz in Sri Lanka, Perodua is offering a special introductory price for the first 50 customers. The Traz is priced at Rs. 19,950,000 with the optional body kit and Rs. 19,200,000 without it, with both prices inclusive of VAT. The Perodua Alza is also available at an introductory price of Rs. 19,950,000, inclusive of VAT.

United Motors Lanka PLC, Perodua’s authorised distributor in Sri Lanka, expects the introduction of the new models to further strengthen the brand’s position in the local market. Group Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director, Mr. Chanaka Yatawara, noted that the company has sold nearly 3,000 vehicles since Sri Lanka lifted its vehicle import restrictions in 2025, highlighting continued consumer confidence in the Perodua brand.

He attributed this success to Perodua’s manufacturing quality and the extensive sales and after-sales support provided by the United Motors Group, expressing confidence that both the Traz and Alza will appeal to Sri Lankan families as well as business users.

Introduced in Malaysia in December 2025, the Perodua Traz was developed with the philosophy of “Engineered Simplicity,” focusing on practicality, ease of use, and the everyday needs of Malaysian motorists. The model represents Perodua’s commitment to delivering an intuitive ownership experience while maintaining the affordability the brand is known for.

Meanwhile, the second-generation Perodua Alza continues to enjoy strong demand in its home market. According to data from the Malaysia Automotive Association (MAA), 19,504 units were registered between January and June this year, reaffirming its status as one of Malaysia’s best-selling MPVs.

The latest export initiative underscores Perodua’s continued efforts to strengthen its presence in overseas markets while showcasing Malaysian-built vehicles to a growing international customer base.
