Mercedes-Benz Malaysia has successfully concluded the 2026 MercedesTrophy National Final Malaysia, marking another milestone for one of the world’s most prestigious amateur golf tournaments. Now in its 36th year, MercedesTrophy continues to unite golfers from more than 60 countries, reflecting a shared pursuit of precision, performance, and sporting excellence.
The tournament embodies the same values that have shaped Mercedes-Benz for 140 years—innovation, craftsmanship, and continuous progress. Beyond showcasing golfing talent, MercedesTrophy serves as a platform for building meaningful relationships and creating memorable experiences for participants.
According to Elaine Hew, General Manager of Marketing Communications at Mercedes-Benz Malaysia, this year’s tournament once again highlighted how sport can connect people through a common appreciation for excellence, integrity, and camaraderie. She noted that as Mercedes-Benz celebrates its 140-year legacy, the brand remains dedicated to delivering exceptional experiences that extend beyond automotive excellence while fostering lasting connections through memorable moments. She also congratulated the finalists for their impressive performances and sportsmanship as they prepare to represent Malaysia on the international stage.
The road to the National Final began with four qualifying rounds held at Tropicana Golf & Country Resort and Kota Permai Golf & Country Club. Competitors battled for coveted places in the championship event, with only the top five golfers from each qualifying round securing advancement to the final showdown.
The National Final took place on 22 June at The ELS Club Desaru Coast in Johor, where participants faced a demanding championship course that tested their precision, tactical decision-making, and composure under pressure.
Among the standout performers, Mr. Ng Jun Lip emerged as the Category A champion, while Mr. Mohd Azli bin Jamal secured victory in Category B. Mr. Liew Kim Weng completed the list of champions by claiming top honours in Category C. Their consistent performances throughout the tournament demonstrated the skill and determination required to succeed at the highest level of amateur competition.
Adding further excitement to the event was an array of exclusive prizes and rewards. The coveted Hole-In-One prize featured a Mercedes-Benz E 350 e, while Datuk Shaifuddin bin Abdul Manan earned the prestigious Drive to the Major title. His achievement secured an all-expenses-paid trip to attend The Open 2026, scheduled from 15 to 20 July.
The tournament’s rewards extended beyond national recognition. The top three golfers in each category, determined by the highest Stableford scores, secured places at the MercedesTrophy World Final 2026. The global championship will be held from 28 September to 2 October at the luxurious Der Öschberghof resort in Germany’s Black Forest region. Surrounded by spectacular views of Lake Constance and the Swiss Alps, the venue will welcome elite amateur golfers from around the world, including Malaysia’s newly crowned representatives.
