Gentari has unveiled a significant update to its Gentari Go mobile application, introducing the highly anticipated AutoCharge feature alongside a revamped rewards programme and enhanced account security measures. The latest improvements are designed to make electric vehicle (EV) ownership more convenient while supporting the continued growth of Malaysia’s EV ecosystem.
The new AutoCharge functionality is now available at selected Gentari DC fast-charging stations nationwide. Once users complete a one-time setup process linking their Gentari Go account to a compatible electric vehicle, charging sessions can begin automatically whenever the vehicle is plugged in. This eliminates the need to launch an app, scan a QR code or use an RFID card each time a charging session is initiated.
The charging experience has been streamlined into a simple three-step process. Drivers only need to connect the charging cable to their vehicle, after which the system automatically verifies the vehicle and immediately starts the charging session. The result is a faster and more seamless public charging experience.
According to Fadzrul Ahmad, Gentari’s Chief Green Mobility Officer, the company believes that user experience is becoming just as important as charging infrastructure expansion as Malaysia’s EV market matures. He noted that AutoCharge removes unnecessary steps from the charging process, allowing drivers to simply plug in their vehicles and begin charging without relying on multiple applications or manual authentication methods.
To celebrate the launch, Gentari is rewarding the first 500 users who successfully register for AutoCharge and complete their first charging session with RM10 worth of Gentari Go credits.
The AutoCharge feature will be introduced progressively across Gentari’s charging network, focusing on major travel routes and urban centres. Gentari currently operates more than 600 EV charging points throughout Malaysia. Through the Gentari Go Roaming Hub, users can also access over 18,000 charging points across Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and India, offering greater convenience for drivers travelling across the region.
Gentari confirmed that no additional fees will be imposed for using AutoCharge. Existing charging rates, subscription plans and promotional offers under the Gentari Go platform will remain unchanged. Information regarding compatible vehicle models, supported charging locations and setup instructions is available through the Gentari Go application and Gentari’s official website.
In addition to the new charging feature, Gentari has updated its rewards programme. Points accumulated before 30 June 2026 will remain valid until 31 December 2026. Points earned from 1 July 2026 onwards, however, will carry a validity period of 180 days from the date they are awarded.
Security enhancements have also been introduced to better protect user accounts and credits. Going forward, users must verify their mobile numbers before accessing Gentari Go credits, helping improve account security while providing greater transparency regarding credit balances and expiry dates.
The updated Gentari Go app is available starting 1 July 2026, enabling users to access AutoCharge, benefit from the revised rewards programme and enjoy stronger security protections with a quick app update and account verification process.
