At KLIMS 2026, Hyundai Motor Malaysia marked a major milestone in its electrification journey with the official introduction of two high-performance electric vehicles: the all-new Hyundai IONIQ 5 N and Hyundai IONIQ 6 N. Their debut signals the arrival of a new era of electrified performance in Malaysia, combining cutting-edge EV technology with Hyundai’s motorsport-driven engineering DNA.

Speaking at the launch, Hyundai Motor Malaysia Managing Director Ms. Jahabarnisa Haja Mohideen highlighted the emotional intent behind the N performance line, emphasizing that these vehicles are designed not just for transport, but for driving excitement. She described the models as a reflection of Hyundai’s belief that electric performance can be just as thrilling—if not more—than traditional combustion engines, reinforcing the brand’s philosophy of “Never Just Drive.”

The Hyundai N sub-brand traces its roots to Namyang in South Korea, the company’s global R&D hub, and the legendary Nürburgring Nordschleife in Germany, where every model is rigorously tested. This development process is deeply influenced by Hyundai’s World Rally Championship (WRC) experience, ensuring that performance, durability, and precision are embedded into every N model.

Hyundai N is built around three core principles known as the “N Feeling”:

  • Corner Rascal – engineered for agility and precision handling through corners
  • Everyday Sports Car – adaptable performance that balances daily comfort with track capability
  • Race Track Capability – designed to perform under extreme conditions without modification

The Hyundai IONIQ 5 N represents a breakthrough in electric performance crossover design. Recognised globally as the 2024 World Performance Car, it delivers up to 650PS with N Grin Boost, enabling acceleration from 0–100 km/h in just 3.4 seconds and a top speed of 260 km/h.

Despite its track-ready performance, the model remains practical, offering a WLTP range of up to 448 km and a spacious 3,000 mm wheelbase suitable for daily use. It also introduces several advanced N-exclusive technologies, including N e-Shift, which simulates the sensation of an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission, as well as N Active Sound+, N Drift Optimiser, N Torque Distribution, and launch control functionality.

The IONIQ 5 N is officially launched in Malaysia with a retail price of RM443,888 and is available via a built-to-order programme.

Joining its crossover sibling is the Hyundai IONIQ 6 N, a performance sedan built on the streamlined IONIQ 6 platform. With a drag coefficient of just 0.27, it is engineered for maximum aerodynamic efficiency while maintaining aggressive performance characteristics.

It delivers the same 650PS output with N Grin Boost but accelerates even faster, achieving 0–100 km/h in just 3.2 seconds and reaching a top speed of 257 km/h. It also offers an extended WLTP range of up to 487 km and features an electronically controlled suspension system for enhanced ride precision.

Recognised as the 2026 World Performance Car, the IONIQ 6 N is positioned as a refined yet extreme performance machine, equally suited for urban environments and high-speed driving.

The model is priced at RM449,888 in Malaysia and is also available on a built-to-order basis.

Beyond the N performance showcase, Hyundai Motor Malaysia is also presenting its wider lineup at KLIMS 2026, including models such as the TUCSON, SANTA FE, and STARIA, along with N Line variants. The exhibition runs from 12 to 21 June 2026 at MITEC Kuala Lumpur, offering visitors test drive opportunities and interactive activities.

Adding to the excitement, the Hyundai Cup™ Trophy Tour is making a special stop in Malaysia from 12–15 June, allowing visitors to view the iconic trophy as part of its regional ASEAN celebration journey.

Hyundai is also extending special nationwide promotions throughout June 2026. Customers purchasing selected models can choose between two attractive packages: a Total Drive Reward, which includes cash rebates, free servicing, and fuel subsidies, or an Instant Saving package offering substantial upfront discounts.

These offers apply to models such as the SANTA FE, TUCSON, and STARIA, with benefits varying depending on variant and year of manufacture.

The arrival of the Hyundai IONIQ 5 N and Hyundai IONIQ 6 N marks a significant step forward in Malaysia’s electric mobility landscape. By combining motorsport heritage, advanced EV engineering, and everyday usability, Hyundai is positioning its N lineup as a bold alternative in the performance segment—one that delivers emotion, innovation, and electrification in a single package.
