Nissan is advancing its electrified mobility strategy in ASEAN with the regional debut of the New Nissan X-Trail e-POWER x e-4ORCE at the Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show 2026 (KLIMS 2026), marking a key milestone ahead of its confirmed Malaysia launch in the fourth quarter of 2026. The unveiling reinforces the brand’s long-term commitment to delivering advanced yet accessible electrification technologies tailored for local driving needs.

Speaking at the showcase, Masao Tsutsumi, President of Nissan ASEAN & Nissan Thailand, highlighted Malaysia’s strategic importance within Nissan’s regional growth plan, supported by established partnerships and a strong customer base. The introduction of the new electrified SUV reflects the company’s continued effort to expand its electrified portfolio and enhance value for Malaysian motorists.

At the core of Nissan’s electrification direction is its signature e-POWER system, a unique electric-drive technology that delivers a fully electric driving feel without the need for external charging. Unlike conventional hybrid systems, e-POWER is driven entirely by electric motors, providing instant torque, smooth acceleration, and quieter operation. A dedicated petrol engine functions solely as a generator to recharge the battery, enabling practicality for everyday use while retaining electric vehicle-like performance.

The New X-Trail e-POWER x e-4ORCE, presented by Edaran Tan Chong Motor Sdn Bhd (ETCM), combines this system with Nissan’s advanced e-4ORCE all-wheel control technology. The result is a more refined driving experience, with improved stability, traction, and ride comfort across varying road and weather conditions. By independently managing torque distribution to all four wheels using dual electric motors, the system enhances responsiveness and precision compared to traditional mechanical AWD setups.

ETCM Executive Vice President Christopher Tan noted that Malaysia’s selection as a key launch market underscores strong regional confidence in the country’s growing electrified vehicle demand. He also positioned the new model as a continuation of Nissan’s electrification journey in Malaysia, following the introduction of the Nissan KICKS e-POWER and the Nissan Serena e-POWER.

Alongside these models, the X-Trail e-POWER x e-4ORCE strengthens Nissan’s expanding electrified lineup on display at KLIMS 2026. Together, they illustrate a multi-segment strategy aimed at offering electrified solutions ranging from urban compact SUVs to family-oriented MPVs, all unified under the e-POWER philosophy.

Adding a creative dimension to the exhibition, Nissan’s booth features a manga-inspired interpretation of “Nissan Crossing Ginza,” transforming the display into an immersive cultural experience. The concept blends Japanese design influence with future mobility themes, allowing visitors to explore electrification through a visually engaging and interactive environment.

For Nissan, this latest showcase signals more than just a product introduction—it reflects a broader push toward making electrified mobility more practical, enjoyable, and widely accessible across ASEAN markets, with Malaysia playing a central role in that evolution.
