GWM Malaysia made a strong statement at the Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show (KLIMS 2026), unveiling the next phase of its ORA and HAVAL line-up as part of a broader vision to deliver tailored mobility solutions for Malaysian drivers. Anchored by the theme “For Every User, For Every Journey,” the showcase reflects the brand’s direction toward a more diversified, multi-powertrain ecosystem designed to match different lifestyles, needs, and driving conditions.
At the heart of the presentation were two key highlights: the ORA 5 HEV and the HAVAL H7 Hi4 PHEV, each representing distinct interpretations of electrified mobility under GWM Malaysia’s expanding portfolio.
According to GWM Malaysia, the local mobility landscape is rapidly evolving, with consumers now prioritising purpose-driven vehicle choices over traditional segments alone. This shift has shaped how the company positions its brands, including ORA and HAVAL, within a unified ecosystem that balances efficiency, performance, and versatility.
Corporate Affairs Managing Director Cui Anqi highlighted that the ORA 5 HEV and HAVAL H7 Hi4 PHEV reflect this transformation, marking a clearer strategy in how electrified mobility is developed and presented for Malaysian customers.
The spotlighted ORA 5 HEV introduces GWM’s new Hi2 intelligent hybrid system, engineered to blend performance with efficiency. The system prioritises both driving enjoyment and fuel economy, offering a balanced solution for modern urban users.
Delivering up to 223 PS and 476 Nm of torque, the ORA 5 HEV accelerates from 0–100 km/h in 7.7 seconds while maintaining a fuel consumption rate of just 4.4L/100 km. Its driving range exceeds 1,100 km, positioning it as a capable option for both daily commuting and longer intercity travel.
Beyond performance, the model emphasises design and identity. Signature elements such as waterdrop-style headlights, concealed rear lighting, and aerodynamic petal-pattern wheels contribute to its distinctive appearance. The model’s global recognition includes a “Design of the Year” award at the 2025 London Design Awards and a GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ achievement for lowest fuel consumption in a hybrid SUV long-distance challenge.
Targeted at young professionals and urban couples, the ORA 5 HEV represents ORA’s evolution into a more connected, lifestyle-driven mobility brand under GWM’s broader strategy.
Complementing the urban-focused ORA model is the HAVAL H7 Hi4 PHEV, which introduces a more rugged and adventure-ready interpretation of electrified driving.
Powered by GWM’s Hi4 plug-in hybrid system, it produces 370 PS and 750 Nm of torque, enabling a 0–100 km/h sprint in 6.2 seconds. The SUV also offers up to 150 km of pure electric driving range (CLTC) and a combined range exceeding 1,000 km, reinforcing its versatility for both city use and long-distance journeys.
Its design follows a bold, boxy SUV silhouette, featuring a fortress-inspired grille, angular lighting signatures, and crystal-style taillights. Measuring 4,800 mm in length, it delivers a commanding presence while maintaining interior space suited for families and adventure seekers.
Capability is a key focus, with approach, departure, and breakover angles tuned for off-road conditions, alongside features such as a 580 mm wading depth and an electronically controlled rear differential lock. These enhancements ensure the HAVAL H7 Hi4 PHEV remains practical beyond paved roads without compromising everyday comfort.
Beyond the two preview models, GWM Malaysia also showcased a wider ecosystem that includes the HAVAL H6 HEV, WEY G9 Hi4 PHEV, TANK 300 HEV, TANK 500 HEV, and ORA GOOD CAT EV.
This diverse line-up underscores GWM’s ambition to provide a complete mobility ecosystem that spans compact urban EVs, family SUVs, premium hybrids, and rugged off-road machines.
In addition to vehicle displays, GWM Malaysia’s KLIMS 2026 booth features interactive experiences such as test drives, technology demonstrations, customer engagement activities, and ownership-focused programmes. A dedicated obstacle course for the TANK range, running from 12 to 14 June 2026, further allows visitors to experience off-road capability firsthand.
From 11 June (Media Day) and open to the public until 21 June 2026, the showcase invites visitors to explore how GWM’s evolving portfolio is reshaping mobility in Malaysia through electrification, design innovation, and lifestyle-driven engineering.
