At the Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show 2026 (KLIMS 2026), SAIC Motor Malaysia officially introduced the local specification of the all-new MG ZS, marking another step forward in its push to strengthen its presence in Malaysia’s fast-evolving compact SUV segment. The showcase featured two variants of the popular B-segment SUV — the LUX Turbo and LUX Hybrid+ — with the turbocharged version set to arrive at a later stage.
According to Emory Qi, Managing Director of SAIC Motor Malaysia, the expansion of the MG ZS lineup reflects the brand’s intent to cater to a broader spectrum of Malaysian drivers. He noted that each MG model is carefully selected to align with local expectations, balancing practicality, performance, and modern features to remain competitive in the increasingly crowded automotive market.
The event also featured insights from Jozef Kabaň, Vice President of Global Design at SAIC Motor, who highlighted MG’s evolving design philosophy. His presentation offered a preview of the brand’s future direction, emphasizing innovation, emotional design, and intelligent mobility as key pillars moving forward.
The new MG ZS combines sporty aesthetics with everyday usability. Its exterior design is defined by a bold front fascia with Connected Hunter Eyes headlights, black grille accents, aerodynamic body sculpting, rear LED lighting, a streamlined spoiler, and stylish 18-inch alloy wheels.
Positioned as one of the largest SUVs in the B-segment, the MG ZS measures 4,430mm in length and 1,818mm in width, delivering a spacious and comfortable cabin layout. Inside, the SUV offers enhanced headroom and legroom, premium material finishes, and practical storage solutions. Cargo capacity stands at 443 litres, expandable to 1,457 litres with the rear seats folded — placing it among the most versatile in its class.
The cockpit is equipped with a 12.3-inch floating infotainment display paired with a digital instrument cluster, ensuring drivers have clear access to key vehicle information and entertainment features.
The MG ZS Hybrid+ is powered by a 1.83kWh high-capacity NCM battery combined with a 100kW electric motor and a 1.5L naturally aspirated engine. Together, the system delivers a combined output of 158kW and 465Nm of torque through a 3-speed hybrid transmission.
This setup allows the SUV to deliver smooth, responsive acceleration, achieving 0–100km/h in just 8.7 seconds. With a full 41-litre fuel tank, it also offers an impressive driving range of up to 870km, positioning it as one of the most efficient and performance-oriented hybrid SUVs in its segment.
All MG vehicles come equipped with MG PILOT Driver Safety Technology, which integrates Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS 2.5) to enhance safety, comfort, and driver confidence.
In addition, MG iSMART connectivity enables owners to control and monitor their vehicles remotely via smartphone, including functions such as keyless entry and other smart vehicle controls.
Beyond the MG ZS, SAIC Motor Malaysia also showcased several other models at KLIMS 2026, including the MG HS Hybrid+, MG QS, MGS5 EV, and the MG Cyberster, reflecting the brand’s increasingly diverse portfolio spanning internal combustion, hybrid, and electric vehicles.
During the show, customers who book the MGS5 EV are eligible for exclusive promotional benefits, including rebates, a home wall box charger, and charging credits, reinforcing MG’s push toward electrified mobility adoption in Malaysia.
A major highlight of the event was the introduction of IM (Intelligence in Motion), SAIC Motor’s premium EV sub-brand, marking its official Malaysian debut. The spotlight model, the IM6, is a fully electric D-segment SUV designed to showcase the brand’s vision for luxury intelligent mobility.
Measuring 4,904mm in length and 1,988mm in width, the IM6 offers a spacious and refined interior featuring ultra-soft leather-style seating, a panoramic glass roof, and advanced smart technologies. It delivers up to 600km WLTP-rated range, with a powerful output of 572kW and 802Nm of torque, positioning it as a high-performance luxury EV contender.
Visitors to the MG booth at KLIMS 2026 were also treated to interactive experiences, including test drives of the MG ZS Hybrid+ and MGS5 EV. The booth featured live performances, social media contests, and cultural showcases, including models dressed in traditional kebaya attire — blending Malaysian heritage with modern automotive presentation.
Complimentary refreshments were also offered to visitors participating in test drives, enhancing the overall customer experience.
