Honda Malaysia has officially reintroduced one of its most celebrated nameplates with the launch of the All-New Prelude at the Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show (KLIMS) 2026. Marking the return of the iconic sports coupe after years of absence, the sixth-generation Prelude arrives with a fresh identity that blends electrified performance, advanced technology, and everyday usability.
Built around Honda’s “Unlimited Glide” concept, the new Prelude is designed to offer a seamless balance between driving excitement, refined comfort, and practical versatility. The model also represents Honda Malaysia’s continued commitment to hybrid mobility, further expanding the brand’s growing e:HEV portfolio.
Speaking at the launch, Honda Malaysia Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Narushi Yazaki, highlighted the importance of hybrid technology in Honda’s sustainability strategy. He noted that the Prelude showcases how electrification can enhance the driving experience while maintaining the emotional connection that has long been associated with Honda vehicles.
At the heart of the All-New Prelude is Honda’s latest 2.0-litre e:HEV hybrid powertrain, producing 184PS and 315Nm of torque. The system delivers strong acceleration, smooth power delivery, and impressive fuel efficiency, positioning the coupe as a capable grand tourer for both daily commuting and spirited drives.
A major highlight of the new model is the introduction of S+ Shift Technology, making its debut in Honda Malaysia’s lineup. This innovative hybrid system actively manages engine revolutions during acceleration and deceleration, creating a more engaging driving sensation with sharper response and enhanced feedback. The technology works in harmony with Active Sound Control and dynamic power meter displays, delivering a driving experience that feels more connected and immersive.
Drivers can tailor the Prelude’s character through three distinct driving modes. Sport Mode sharpens handling and stability for a more engaging drive, GT Mode balances comfort and performance for long-distance touring, while Comfort Mode prioritises smoothness and relaxation. An additional Individual Mode allows drivers to personalise settings such as steering feel, suspension behaviour, powertrain response, instrument display, and engine sound.
Honda has also introduced Coasting Control Operation, a first for the brand. This feature enables smoother deceleration, reducing the need for constant pedal inputs and contributing to a more relaxed driving experience.
Performance-focused engineering plays a key role in the Prelude’s development. Borrowing technologies from the legendary Type R, the coupe features a dual-axis strut front suspension and Adaptive Damper System to improve handling precision and ride quality. Agile Handling Assist further enhances stability and confidence, particularly when navigating corners or avoiding obstacles.
Visually, the All-New Prelude adopts a sleek fastback profile inspired by the effortless movement of a glider. The flowing roofline and sculpted bodywork reinforce the “Unlimited Glide” philosophy, while a glass-integrated radio antenna allows for a cleaner, uninterrupted silhouette.
The exterior combines elegance with sporty intent through details such as a Black Chrome Grille, LED lighting signatures, flush door handles, and distinctive blue accents integrated into the front and rear bumpers. Completing the look are 19-inch alloy wheels paired with striking blue Brembo brake calipers, emphasising the model’s performance credentials.
Inside, Honda introduces a “Gliding Cockpit” design that creates a strong sense of connection between occupants and the vehicle. The cabin combines modern styling with intuitive technology, ensuring both comfort and driver focus. Unique front-seat designs further reinforce this philosophy, with the driver’s seat optimised for support and engagement, while the passenger seat prioritises comfort and ease of access.
Technology features include a 9-inch Advanced Display Audio system with Google Built-in, providing access to Google Assistant, Google Maps, and Google Play services. A premium Bose sound system enhances the entertainment experience, while Honda’s renowned packaging efficiency ensures practical cargo space capable of accommodating two medium-sized suitcases despite the coupe’s sporty proportions.
Safety remains a core priority, with the All-New Prelude equipped with the full Honda SENSING suite of advanced driver-assistance systems. These technologies are designed to improve driver awareness and confidence across a wide range of driving conditions.
Priced at RM278,000, the All-New Prelude represents a significant milestone in Honda Malaysia’s hybrid journey, combining iconic heritage with modern electrified performance. Customers can choose from three exterior colours: Winter Frost Pearl, Rallye Red, and Crystal Black Pearl.
The launch of the Prelude also serves as a showcase of Honda’s broader hybrid ambitions, with visitors to KLIMS 2026 able to explore other electrified models, including the HR-V equipped with a 360-degree camera system. With its blend of heritage-inspired design, advanced hybrid technology, and driver-focused engineering, the All-New Prelude signals an exciting new chapter for Honda enthusiasts in Malaysia.
