Red Bull Malaysia has unveiled Red Bull Next Generation, a new regional athlete development platform designed to discover, support and elevate emerging sporting talent across Southeast Asia. Introduced under TCP Group, the initiative launches first in Malaysia and Indonesia, reinforcing the company’s long-term commitment to nurturing the next wave of athletes and strengthening the region’s sporting ecosystem.
Open to athletes aged 18 to 25 from all sporting backgrounds, Red Bull Next Generation seeks to identify individuals who are actively developing their skills and striving to reach higher levels of competition. The programme welcomes participants from traditional sports, emerging disciplines and even esports, reflecting a broad and inclusive approach to athlete development.
Unlike conventional sponsorship programmes that often focus solely on elite performers, Red Bull Next Generation is built around the belief that talent can be found at every stage of the sporting journey. Selection criteria extend beyond medals, rankings and popularity, placing strong emphasis on mindset, dedication, potential and the level of support available to each athlete.
According to TCP Group Chief Global Marketing Officer Supasita Kraisri, Southeast Asia is home to a new generation of athletes, creators and communities that are helping shape the future of sport and culture. She explained that the programme is designed to create opportunities, increase visibility and provide meaningful support that can accelerate the growth of promising individuals. Beyond athlete development, the initiative aims to inspire ambition and belief among young talents throughout the region.
For Malaysia, the launch represents another step in Red Bull’s ongoing efforts to strengthen local sports communities. TCP Red Bull Malaysia Head of Marketing Adelene Tay highlighted the company’s longstanding support for grassroots sports and talent development. She noted that Malaysia’s role as one of the first countries to introduce the programme provides a valuable opportunity to spotlight promising athletes and help them gain greater recognition and access to opportunities that could shape their future careers.
Participants selected for Red Bull Next Generation will benefit from a comprehensive support system tailored to their individual needs. The programme combines performance development with personal growth through workshops, mentorship sessions, media training, financial assistance and enhanced content exposure across Red Bull’s platforms.
Adding further value to the initiative is the involvement of renowned performance specialist Martin Pfeifenberger. With more than two decades of experience working with elite athletes across more than 100 sports disciplines, Pfeifenberger has collaborated with Formula 1 drivers, Olympic champions and leading professional teams. His expertise in training, recovery and human performance will help participants maximise their athletic potential.
Program Director Sigurd Meiche emphasised that many talented young athletes across Southeast Asia work tirelessly behind the scenes long before they receive widespread recognition. He explained that the programme is focused on identifying those individuals early in their journey and providing support at a stage when it can make the greatest impact. Whether athletes are already competing nationally or are gaining momentum within local sporting communities, the key qualities Red Bull seeks are ambition, commitment and a desire to improve.
The initiative stands apart through its inclusive philosophy, welcoming both individual and team athletes from every sporting discipline. Rather than applying a one-size-fits-all model, Red Bull Next Generation aims to recognise unique journeys and provide customised support that helps athletes progress both on and off the field of competition.
At its core, the programme is driven by the belief that future champions already exist—they simply have not yet been discovered. By highlighting the hard work, challenges, breakthroughs and personal growth that occur before mainstream success, Red Bull Next Generation hopes to shine a spotlight on stories that often go untold.
Applications for Malaysian athletes are now open throughout June 2026, with the first group of selected athletes expected to be announced from August 2026 onward. Through this initiative, Red Bull aims to create a stronger pathway for emerging talent, helping the next generation of Southeast Asian athletes turn potential into achievement.
